Merck Limited (formerly E. Merck Limited) was set up in India as the first Merck subsidiary in Asia in 1967.  The Company operates both its Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals businesses in the country.
Merck was also the first Merck Group Company to go public in the year 1981.  The Merck Group now holds 51% of the share capital in Merck Limited, while the remaining 49% is traded on the Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd. and National Stock Exchange of India Ltd.  Merck Specialities Pvt. Ltd., the wholly owned Indian subsidiary of Merck KGaA, was incorporated in 2005.

Job Description:
Gather all pertinent data, statistics and market information to determine market penetration and potential, competitive strategies, customer attitudes and preferences, and product life cycle strategies
Quantify market potential, assesses market landscape, evaluates current & future competitors, predicts market trends and identify potential opportunities and risks
Performs market share analyses using internal and external data sources to predict relative corporate market positions for various product lines
Create tracking program to monitor market landscape, product performance as well as identifies issues using appropriate data sources (e.g. sales, unit, primary research, etc)
Design & conduct actionable marketing research - Primary & Secondary
Present marketing research recommendations to functional groups within marketing
Review, analyze and summarizes information from syndicated data and reports to provide relevant, actionable insights to drive decision making
Coordinate relationships with market research consultants
Facilitate and participates in the new product development process  
Adept at analysing large amount of market data, forecasting trends & market projection, devising strategies for growth and there by leading to accomplishment of organizational objectives
Analyzing customer satisfaction, customer profiling & forecasting future product needs through both quantitative and qualitative analysis and establishing the market forecast

Desired Profile:
Graduate degree from a reputed university (MBA will be an added advantage)
Business-oriented understanding of market research processes
The ability to understand and communicate the research findings & providing actionable insights
Ability to translate business questions into research topics & supporting it with rigorous analysis
Knowledge of current trends in marketing research processes
Proficiency using computer software such as Excel, Word, and Power Point
Strong communication, presentation & analytical skills
Team player who enjoys working with multiple teams
Willingness to travel
