Government of India has set up six new National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPERs) under the aegis of Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Department of Pharmaceuticals, at Rae Bareli, Hajipur, Guwahati, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad. These are presently being run with the help of Mentor Institutes. The Institutes are required to be established on their own. The mandate of the Institute is to create human resources of a high caliber to serve the academic institutes and the Indian pharmaceuticals industry, undertake cutting edge research & development in the area of drugs & pharmaceuticals and help the Indian Pharma Industry achieve its goal to become a global player

Job Description:
Director will be required to oversee the establishment of the new NIPERs in consultation with the Department of Pharmaceuticals, apart from the work of imparting education at PG Level, R&D and other professional work of the Institution. It will involve active interaction with the State Governments, local authorities & Project Management Consultants of the project etc.
Candidate Profile:
The candidates for the post should be an eminent educationist in pharmaceuticals and related areas or a scientist of stature and of proven merit. The candidate should be a Ph.D., should have worked as Professor or equivalent for at least ten years as on the closing date of receipt of applications or should have atleast 25 years research experience including teaching and should have published work in eminent journals. The candidate should be energetic and dynamic with a futuristic outlook, capable of attracting talent, commanding respect within the Institute faculty as well as that of the Indian Pharmaceutical industry, professional and international agencies. As Head of the Institute, the candidate should be able to provide overall direction and exercise administrative control over the faculty and staff.
Appointment: Appointment is on contract (subject to the contract terms and conditions) for a period of five years. The post carries a fixed basic salary of Rs. 80,000/- per month. Other benefits and allowances as applicable to the Central Government employees will be in addition, thereto.
