Government of India has set up six new National Institutes of Pharmaceuticals Education and Research (NIPERs) under the aegis of Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Department of Pharmaceuticals, at Ahmedabad. Guwahati, Hyderabad, Hajipur, Kolkata and Rae Bareli. These are presently being run with the help of Mentor Institutes. The Institutes are required to be established on their own. The mandate of the Institute is to create human resources of a high caliber to serve the academic institutes and the Indian pharmaceutical industry, undertake cutting edge research and development in the area of drugs & pharmaceuticals and help the indian Pharma Industry to achieve its goal to become a global player.

Job Responsibilities:
The Director will be required to oversee the establishment of the new NIPERs in consultation with the Department of Pharmaceuticals, apart from the work of imparting education at PG level. R&D. and other professional work of the Institution, It will involve active interaction with the State Governments, local authorities, Project Management Consultants of the project, etc.
Candidate Profile:
candidates for the post should be an eminent pharmaceutical educationist and scientist of stature and proven merit. The candidate should be a Ph.D., should have worked as Professor or equivalent for at least ten years as on the closing date of receipt of applications and should have published work in eminent journals. The candidate should be energetic and dynamic with a futuristic outlook, capable of attracting talent, commanding respect within the Institute faculty as well as that of the Indian Pharmaceutical industry, profession and international agencies. As Head of the institute, the candidate should be able to provide overall direction and exercise administrative control over the faculty and staff.
The appointment is on contract for a period of five years in the first instance. The post carries a fixed basic salary of Rs. 80,000/- per month. Other benefits and allowances as applicable to the Central Government employees will be in addition, thereto.
