Q1. Attempt any Two of the following:

(a) Draw an optical diagram of spectrofluorometer. Give its theory and pharmaceutical applications.

(b) Discuss theory and pharmaceutical applications of X-Ray diffraction spectroscopy.

(c) Explain origin of uv/visible absorption spectrum through it. What information may be sought regarding structure of organic compounds?

Q2. Attempt any Two of the following:

(a) Write an exhaustive note on thermogravimetry.

(b) Explain frequency shift due to inductive and mesomeric effects in IR spectroscopy.

(c) How will you distinguish:
(i) 100,200, and 300 aliphatic amines.
(ii) 100,200, and 300 aliphatic alcohols and phenols.
(iii) Alkane, alkene, alkyne and arene from each other.

Q3. Attempt any Two of the following:

(a) How will you differentiate betweenfirst order and non-first order PMR spectra?

(b) How will you simplify complicated splitting pattern in PMR? Differentiate between PMR and 13 CNMR.

(c) Discuss principle and quantitative and qualitative applications of ESR.

Q4. Attempt any Two of the following:

(a) Give difference stationary phases used in different modes of HPLC.

(b) Discuss about carrier gases, column and solid support stationary phases in GLC.

(c) Elaborate factors affecting electrophoretic mobility.

Q5. Attempt the following:

(a) Draw diagram of apparatus and give methodology of DTA. Discuss factors affecting DTA results.

(b) How will you ascertain purity of sample by DSC? Discuss its principle.
