• They are active compounds that after exerting their desired effects are designed to undergo metabolic activities to give non toxic product.
  

 Eg the concept of soft drugs was successfully used for local delivery of steroids and also for safer ocular delivery drug system for treatment of glaucoma ocular infection and inflammation
