National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) is the first national level institute in pharmaceutical sciences with a proclaimed objective of becoming a centre of excellence for advanced studies and research in pharmaceutical sciences. The Government of India has declared NIPER as an ‘Institute of National Importance’. It is an autonomous body set up under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. The Institute is conceived to provide leadership in pharmaceutical sciences and related areas not only within the country, but also to the countries in South East Asia, South Asia and Africa. NIPER is a member of Association of Indian Universities and Association of Commonwealth Universities.

NIPER-S has set up a dedicated Small and Medium Pharmaceutical Industry Centre (SMPIC). This dedicated centre aims at creating commercial synergy and cooperation between SME Pharma companies and NIPER.

It will also cater to the requirements with respect to training on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Under this plan, initially week-long training programs were conducted on the various aspects of GMP, GLP, Documentations and SOPs, with separate modules on practical training on analytical instruments. The training programs have been designed in consultations with SMEs.

Objectives of SMPIC
To develop training programs to match the requirements of the SME pharma sector.
• To utilize the expertise available with the faculty members of the Institute in solving specific problems of SME Pharma companies.
To train science and pharmacy graduates in the state-of-the-art instrumentation facilities and regulatory requirements. These trained personnel will be offered responsible positions in SME in pharma companies so that the latter are able to compete in the business scenario. SMEs need to develop a mechanism by which they will be able to recruit and retain this highly skilled and trained workforce.
To develop and assist SME Pharma units to meet global challenges, besides Schedule M, Good Laboratory Practices and other regulatory requirements etc.

SMPIC announce to organize a training program on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) & Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) from 21 – 23 November 2011. Training course has been thoroughly developed to provide your employees with the most up-to-date content available. At the same time, we ensure that you get quality interaction with our speakers. This allows the speakers to answer more specific question, and give you the individual attention that makes the training program effective.
