Admissions to Ph.D. and M.Sc.-Ph.D. programmes at NBRC

Clinical research courses

National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) will select candidates through following channels for admissions to following programmes for the year 2017.

Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Science (JGEEBILS).

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE-2016/GATE-2017).

Eligibility
Ph.D.   
Master's degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology from a recognized Institute / University or a minimum of four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University.

Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.

Candidates with at least 55% (50% for SC / ST / PH candidates) marks or equivalent grade or grade point average from secondary (10th) examination onwards will be considered. Candidates should calculate their percentage up to two decimal points to determine their eligibility.

M.Sc (NEUROSCIENCE)
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer applications/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary Science/ Psychology/ Engineering/ Technology/ Medicine from a recognized Institute/ University.

Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply

Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS)

Candidates will be short-listed for a two-tier interview based on their performance in the JGEEBILS examination.

Candidates Appearing for JGEEBILS:

NBRC invites applications for admissions to the Ph.D. and M.Sc.(Neuroscience) programmes through JGEEBILS (Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences) ncbs.res.in/academic/admissions-JGEEBILS.

Candidates for both Ph.D. and M.Sc.(Neuroscience) programmes have to appear for JGEEBILS schedule to be conducted on Sunday, December 11, 2016.

Candidates, who are appearing for JGEEBILS can apply for both Ph.D. and M.Sc.(Neuroscience) programmes of NBRC. Please see this page nbrc.ac.in/Admission2017/eligibilty.php for eligibility criteria.
You will require the reference code for JGEEBILS examination while applying to NBRC, which you might have received on applying to JGEEBILS examination at ncbs.res.in/academic/admissions-JGEEBILS

Candidates short-listed for the interview will be informed latest by May 2014. The interviews are likely to be held in the month of May/June 2014. The interview dates will also be published on the NBRC web site.

Candidates Appearing for GATE - 2017
NBRC will accept applications from GATE qualified candidates (with 85 percentile or more in GATE 2016/2017) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology and Instrumentation Engineering for its Ph.D. programme. These candidates should apply to NBRC with their GATE score. The application can be submitted online or by post/courier.

Candidates Appearing for JEST (JEST-2017)
NBRC invites applications for admissions to the Ph.D. programme through JEST (Joint Entrance Screening Test) jest.org.in/.  Candidates have to appear for JEST schedule to be conducted on Sunday, February 19th, 2017.  Candidates, who are appearing please see this page www.nbrc.ac.in/Admission2017/eligibilty.php for eligibility criteria. You will require the Registration No. for JEST exam while applying to NBRC. You will get the Registration No. after applying for JEST exam at jest.org.in/

Application Fee
The application fee for various categories of candidates applying for Ph.D. and Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. programmes is given below.

General Rs.300/- Rs.350/-
SC/ST/PH Rs.150/- Rs.200/-

The application fee (by offline applicants) should be submitted by a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, National Brain Research Centre payable at Gurgaon or Manesar. The offline candidates should send the Demand Draft along with the complete application to the Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122051 Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana). Please write your name and programme applied for on the back of the Demand Draft. JGEEBILS / JEST candidates should write their Reference Code / Registration No. also on the back of the Demand Draft. GATE candidates should write their GATE Roll Number with year of examination also on the back of the Demand Draft. CSIR / UGC / DBT / ICMR (Biology / Physics / Chemistry / Maths) (External Fellowship Channel) candidates should write their Roll Number with year of examination also on the back of the Demand Draft.
