Central University of Punjab Offers Working Opportunity as Project Research Scientist

The Central University of Punjab, has been established in 2009 along with other new Central Universities by an Act of Parliament (No 25, of 2009). Central University has completed a remarkable journey of 13 years. University is accredited ‘A+’ grade in 2023 in second accreditation cycle by NAAC and has secured 95th, 87th and 84th, 81st, 100th and 83rd rank in the year 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 respectively in the University category of NIRF. It is credited with highest per capita research funding. The university has a mission of providing a wide range of instructional and research facilities across integrated and cross-disciplines, promote innovation in teaching, learning and research, and cross-pollinate new ideas, new technologies and new world-views.

Applications in prescribed format are invited for following project position for short term basis :

Post : Project Research Scientist –I (Non-Medical)

Title of the Project : Design, Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Novel Histone Deacetylase-Proteolysis Targeting Chimeras (HDAC- PROTACs) as Therapeutic Agents for Lung and Kidney Cancer (Project ID: IIRPIG(NAG)-I-2026-01-1150
Funding Agency : ICMR, New Delhi
Project Duration : 3 years

Emoluments : ₹ 56000+ HRA (10%) per month for a period of two years and 5% increment in the third year as per ICMR norms.

Term of engagement : Initially for a period of one year, further extendable up to the duration of the project and/or co-terminus with the Research Project based on satisfactory work & conduct of the project.

Essential Qualification : B.Pharmacy degree and Master’s degree [M.Pharm/M.S. (Pharm.)] in Medicinal / Pharmaceutical Chemistry with a minimum of 60% marks [55% for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwD] from a recognized Indian or Foreign University/Institutes, with having qualified GPAT or any other equivalent national-level entrance examination.

Desirable Expertise : Expertise in medicinal chemistry, multistep organic synthesis and purification, small molecules and their PROTAC design, HDAC-targeting, spectroscopic characterization, In-silico techniques, SAR studies, and understanding of biological evaluation of anticancer compounds.

Age : Below 30 years on date of interview (Relaxation in age is permissible for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates as per Government of India rules)

Terms and Conditions
1. The abovementioned post(s) is/are purely temporary for limited period or duration of Research Project funded by the funding agency.
2. Applicants shall be required to show the original documents at the time of interaction cum interview and/or joining
3. No T.A/D.A. or any other allowances will be paid for attending the interaction cum interview.
4. The University reserves the right to withdraw this advertisement or increase/decrease the number of posts at any time without assigning any reason.
5. The right is also reserved with the University either to fill or not to fill the vacancies. The decision of Competent Authority of the university in this regard shall be final.
6. Suppression of factual information, supply of fake documents, providing false or misleading information or any other undesirable action by the candidate shall lead to cancellation of his /her candidature. In case, it is detected at any point of time in future even after engagement that the candidate was not eligible as per the prescribed qualification, experience etc. which could not be detected at the time of Test/Interaction cum Interview due to whatever circumstances, his/her engagement shall be liable to be terminated forthwith as per this clause and also based on his/her undertaking
7. The rules and regulations of CUPB and funding agency will be applicable to the selected candidates.
8. The selected candidate will be provided an opportunity to enroll for the Ph.D. programme at Central University of Punjab, subject to fulfilling the prescribed eligibility criteria and applicable University rules and regulations.
