Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research can trace its origins to the Ecole de Medicine de Pondicherry established by the French Government in 1823. In 1956 foundation for new medical college was laid and in 1964, hospital was inaugurated. JIPMER became an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India in the year 2008. It is an institution established for teaching, research and patient care in the area of health. JIPMER spreads over 192 acres.
Post : Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) – ONE post
Applications are invited from eligible candidates to work on the following post on a contract basis in ICMR funded ad hoc Project “Implementation of AMSP in various Tertiary care centers across India” at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, as per the details below.

Nature of work/responsibilities and expectations : The role and responsibilities will align with that of a clinical pharmacist. The candidate is also expected to supervise the project activities pertaining to antimicrobial stewardship. This especially includes activities like audit, compliance with antibiotic policy, appropriate antibiotic use, de-escalation of antibiotics and holding CME activities.
Eligibility criteria (Qualifications and Experience)
A. Essential:
1. Pharm.D
2. At least SIX months of Research Experience
B. Desirable : 1. Clinical Experience in Antimicrobial Stewardship practices.
2. Any Publication in Science Citation Indexed Journal.
3. Good Communication skills and Proficiency in English.
4. Basic computer knowledge required for data entry and data analysis.
C. Maximum Age Limit : Not exceeding 35 years as on 30th September 2024 (Monday).
Terms and Conditions
1. This position is purely on contract basis for an externally sponsored project, and the person engaged will have no claim to any regular post in JIPMER at any time. Further, the position is only for the duration of the project and based purely on external funding support for the project.
2. The engagement may be extended or curtailed at discretion of the Principal Investigator. If performance of the appointee is not found satisfactory by the Principal Investigator, then appointment can be terminated without assigning any reason with one month notice.
3. Qualification and experience should be in a relevant discipline/field and in a reputed institution/organization. The experience should have been gained after acquiring the essential qualification. Qualification, experience, other terms, and conditions may be relaxed/ altered at the discretion of the Principal Investigator.
4. The appointee shall be on the whole-time appointment of the JIPMER and shall not accept any other assignment, paid or otherwise and shall not engage himself/herself in a private practice of any kind during the period of contract.
5. Valid email ID and mobile number are compulsory.
6. Consolidated salary of the post may vary from time to time. No other allowance/facilities other than consolidated salary shall be extended. The appointee shall perform the duties as assigned to him/her. The competent authority reserves the right to assign any duty as and when required. No extra/additional allowances will be admissible in case of such assignment.
7. Submission of wrong or false information at any stage during the process of selection or canvassing of any kind will lead to disqualification or even termination if detected after the person has been engaged.
8. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test and/or interview. Decision of the Principal Investigator will be final. If the number of applications is very large, more stringent criteria than those specified above may be used to determine eligibility.
9. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
10. Incomplete applications and applications that are not in the prescribed format and those not fulfilling the essential criteria above are likely to be summarily rejected. Candidates may attach their CVs with the application form. However, applications with CV alone and without the prescribed form and certificates will be rejected.
Selection Procedure :
Eligible & interested candidates who agree to the terms and conditions (mentioned below) may register online, and email the filled-in application form (format attached), along with CV and supporting documents, scanned as one PDF file of size not more than 10MB, to the email ID: jipmeramsp@gmail.com, by 6 PM of 30th September 2024. The applicants will be screened and shortlisted based on the details furnished in the application, CV, and the documentary proof provided by email. The list of eligible candidates thus shortlisted will be displayed on the JIPMER website by 3rd October 2024. The shortlisted eligible candidates will also be intimated by email. They have to report on 21st October 2024 (Monday) by 8.00 AM with their filled-in applications along with other relevant documents at the designated venue for document verification (as mentioned below). After document verification, all eligible candidates will have to appear for a written test. Based on the performance in the written test, the top 5 (Five) candidates will be shortlisted to appear for personal Interview on the same day. List of candidates shortlisted for personal interview will be displayed in the Departmental Notice Board at 2 PM. The final merit list will be drawn after the Interview, with the selected candidate and wait listed candidates, based on CV, application, written test and interview. The final merit will be published on the JIPMER website by 25th October 2024. The same will be valid for one year from the date of publications of results.
