National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG) Kalyani is an Institute of Government of India, Ministry of Science & Technology, Department of Biotechnology. The Institute has created necessary physical infrastructure and critical platform technologies to support research, translation, and training in biomedical genomics.
Post : Project Scientist, Senior Project Associate
Project Title : “SARS – CoV-2 network For Genomic Surveillance in Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa NGS-BRICS”
Project Description : The SARS-CoV-2 NGS-BRICS Consortium includes some of the leading scientific organizations in Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The aim of the consortium is to accelerate the translation of genomic data into clinical and public health research and interventions. This is proposed to be achieved by allowing a more comprehensive and accurate detection of COVID-19 lineages from clinical and surveillance samples, using the genomic technologies, and epidemiologic and bioinformatics tools to expand our knowledge of viruses and virus infections at the molecular and clinical level, allowing faster characterization of emerging lineages and assisting with the surveillance of those viruses and accelerates the development of next generation sequencing technology for future use in diagnostic assays and tracking transmission dynamics of COVID-19 and other viruses. The overarching aim of this project is to create an integrated, cross disciplinary, collaborative genomics research program between leading BRICS scientific organizations to advance COVID-19 knowledge relevant for public health and contribute to improvements in health outcomes.
Project Scientist-III
Consolidated Remuneration [INR] per month : 78000 +24% HRA
Essential Qualifications : (i) Doctoral Degree in Bioinformatics / Biophysics or master’s degree in Engineering or Technology / Computer Science / Bioinformatics from a recognized University or equivalent; and (ii) Seven years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services
(iii) Age- not more than 45 years as on date of application
Desirable Qualifications : Previous experience in viral genomics- experimental and computation al. Previous experience (minimum 3 years) in scientific research involving sample collection, experimental and computation al laboratory work and peer reviewed publication (at least 1) in relevant field
Nature of Duty : Coordination of sample collection , experimental, computational laboratory work and preparation of reports and assit the PI and Co-PIs in conduct of proposed research
Senior Project Associate (Experimental)
Consolidated Remuneration [INR] per month : 42000 + 24% HRA
Essential Qualifications : (i) Master's Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / M.V.Sc. or bachelor s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent; and
(ii) Four years' experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services OR Doctoral Degree in Science / Engineering / Technology / Pharma / MD / MS from a recognized University or equivalent
Desirable Qualifications : Previous experience (minimum 2 years) in DNA sequencing / human genetics
Nature of Duty : For sequencing required in the project
Senior Project Associate (Bioinformatics)
Consolidated Remuneration [INR] per month : 42000 + 24% HRA
Essential Qualifications : (i) Master's Degree in Bioinformatics / Biophysics / Biotechnology / Related discipline or BTech/M.Tech in Computer Science/Engg/MCA or related discipline from a recognized University or equivalent; and
(ii) Four years' experience in analysis of next generation sequencing data OR Doctoral Degree in Science / Engineering / Technology / Pharma / MD / MS from a recognized University or equivalent Strong experience in Unix command line
Desirable Qualifications : Experience in handling virus bioinformatic s data (minimum 2 years)
Nature of Duty : For bioinformatics analysis required in the project
The tenure of the project is Two Years. These positions are contractual, the appointment will be initially given for one year, which is extendable depending upon performance, requirement of the project and availability of funds.
The last date of application is 30 Sep 2022 (5PM). Only the shortlisted candidates will be called for Interview/Test. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the Interview/Test.
The decision of NIBMG in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of application, mode of selection, and conduct of interviews will be final and binding on the applicants. In exceptionally meritorious cases, the eligibility requirements may be relaxed by the competent authority. The competent authority may also downgrade the post if no suitable applicants are found as per desirable qualification.
