Job for Research Associate, SRF at NIPGR

The National Institute of Plant Genome Research (formerly known as National Centre for Plant Genome Research) is an autonomous institution aided by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The Institute's establishment coincides with the 50th anniversary of India's independence as well as birth anniversary of Prof. (Dr.) J. C. Bose. The formal announcement was made on November 30th 1997. This Institute has already placed India among the major contributors to plant genomics.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary positions of two Research Associate (RA-III) and one Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in the following projects of Dr. Jagadis Gupta Kapuganti, Scientist, NIPGR.

(A) DBT project entitled "Nitric oxide signaling in response to Botrytis cinerea infection tomato fruits" 
Research Associate-III (one post)
Emoluments : as per DST/DBT norms and as sanctioned in the project.
Essential Qualification : Candidates having a Ph.D. in Life Sciences or equivalent with good publication records are eligible to apply. Candidates should have research experience in cloning, generation of transgenics, genome editing and metablomics. Candidates having prior work experience in performing molecular analysis of transgenic plants are desirable. 

(B) Indo-Swiss Joint project entitled "Unravelling the interaction of mineral nutrition (N and K) and vitamin B6 metabolism for sustainable agricultural practices" 
Research Associate-III (one post)
Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms and as sanctioned in the project. 
Essential Qualification: Candidates having a Ph.D. in Life Sciences or equivalent with good publication records  are eligible to apply. Candidates should have research experience in cloning, protein purification, generation of transgenics, genome editing and metablomics. Candidate having prior work experience in performing molecular analysis and phenotyping of transgenic and genome-editing events are highly desirable.  

(C) SERB project entitled "The role of phytoglobin-nitric oxide cycle in oxygen sensing and plasticity of mitochondrial response to low oxygen stress in plants"
Senior Research Fellow (one post)
Emoluments :  as per DST/DBT norms and as sanctioned in the project. 
Essential Qualification : Candidates selected through National Eligibility Tests as mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019 and having M.Sc. degree (with minimum 60% marks) in Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology or equivalent with 2 years of post- M.Sc./M.Tech  experience and good academic records are eligible to apply.
Candidates having prior research experience of working on Arabidopsis, measurement of various free radicals, metabolomics, gene expression analysis are desirable.

The above positions are completely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project. The fellowship amount for the above positions are as sanctioned in the project and as per DBT/DST norms. The initial appointment will be for one year or till the tenability of the project whichever is earlier and the same can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualification and experience of the candidate. Reservation of posts shall be as per Govt. of India norms. The appointment may be terminated any time by giving one month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of NIPGR.

A web-link with date and time of online interview will be e-mailed to the shortlisted candidates. The candidates must ascertain their eligibility before applying, as ineligible candidates will not be interviewed.
