Manipal University invites applications for the positions of JRF/SRF/Ph.D student

Manipal, today, is a knowledge powerhouse and a brand name in higher education. Over five and half decades ago, one man, Dr Tonse Madhava Anantha Pai, had a vision which ensured that everything he did then, was consigned to posterity, making sure that generation after generation of students enjoy the fruits of his labour till eternity on this lateritic plateau. And the students will, forever, have one name on their lips, that of Manipal.

Applications are invited for the following research positions of the respective funded projects under the supervision of Dr. Rajarshi Pal, Assistant Professor, School of Regenerative Medicine, Bangalore. Selected candidate(s) if found suitable could enrol for Ph.D. under Manipal University during this engagement.

Project title:
Generation of airway progenitors from pluripotent stem cells by simulating milestones of in vivo lung development and their applicability for treatment of experimental pulmonary fibrosis
Duration of the Project:Initially One year; performance based extension
Qualification: M. Sc. in Biotechnology / Life Sciences with exposure on stem cells
Funded by : DBT Govt. of India
Remuneration: 25,000/- + 30% HRA (per month)

Project title:
De novo generation of retinal pigmental epithelium (RPE) and photoreceptor (PR) cells from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) for treatment of retinal diseases
Duration of the Project: Initially six months; performance based extension
Qualification: M. Sc. in Biotechnology / Life Sciences with exposure on stem cells
Remuneration: 25,000/- (consolidated) (per month)

Post : Ph.D student
Project title:
Proof-of-concept studies to understand the after-effects of ionizing radiations (IR) on human stem cells
Duration of the Project: 3-5 years
Qualification: M. Sc. in Biotechnology / Life Sciences CSIR-NET qualified; ICMR or DBT fellowship
Remuneration: Ph.D scholarship

Desired criteria
* Hands-on experience in mammalian cell and tissue culture, cell and molecular biology techniques
* Poster presented in international / national conferences or peer-reviewed publication
* Experience working in an Industry as intern / trainee or any capacity

Selection process
Candidates possessing requisite qualification may send their detailed CV (including research interests & names of three references) with copies of relevant certificates in support of the qualification and experience to the following address by October 15, 2016. Candidates who have completed Ph.D. recently will also be considered.

Candidates selected will be called for the interview at School of Regenerative Medicine, Bangalore. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. Original certificates in support of educational qualification and experience have to be produced at the time of interview.
