Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the following purely temporary project human resource positions at the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (IMS, BHU), Varanasi under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Government of India-sponsored extramural research project titled “AI-Enabled Platform Integrating Stromal Dynamics to Predict Immunotherapy Response in Triple- Negative Breast Cancer”.
The project is sanctioned for a total duration of 48 months (4 years). The positions are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.
Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical)
Number of Positions : 01 (One)
Duration of Position : Initially for 01 year, extendable annually up to 04 years (duration of the project), subject to satisfactory periodic performance evaluation.
Emoluments : ₹67,000/- per month + 20% HRA. Increment @5% on initial emoluments after completion of every two years, subject to performance review.
Age Limit Upper age limit : 40 years. (Age relaxation applicable for SC/ST/OBC/Women/PwD candidates as per Government of India / ICMR guidelines).
Minimum Essential Qualifications : • Ph.D. in Biotechnology / Molecular Biology / Microbiology/ Clinical Genetics or life Science from a recognized NIRF top 20 university/institute.
• Minimum of three years of documented post-doctoral research experience.
• Minimum of two (2) first- or corresponding-author research publications in Q1/Q2 indexed journals.
Desirable Qualifications & Expertise
• Experience handling patient data or clinical samples is highly desirable
• Hands-on experimental expertise in multiplex immunofluorescence (mIF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), and Tyramide Signal Amplification (TSA) workflows.
• Practical experience in primary cell isolation (CAFs), mammalian cell culture, and 3D tumor spheroid/organotypic co-culture models.
• Working knowledge of digital pathology, whole-slide scanning, image annotation, or spatial biology analytics.
• Experience in molecular assays: qRT-PCR, Western blotting, flow cytometry, and cytokine release/cytotoxicity profiling.
• Prior experience in biobanking, clinical trial data annotation, and SOP-driven laboratory management.
Project Technical Support-III

Number of Positions : 01 (One)
Duration of Position : Initially for 01 year, extendable annually up to 04 years (duration of the project), subject to satisfactory periodic performance evaluation.
Emoluments : ₹28,000/- per month + 20% HRA. Increment @5% on initial emoluments after completion of every two years, subject to performance review.
Age Limit Upper age limit : 35 years. Age relaxation as per applicable ICMR/Government of India rules.
Minimum Essential Qualifications
Post Graduate Degree in Biotechnology / Molecular Biology / Microbiology / Clinical Genetics/ Medical Laboratory technology or life Science
Desirable Qualifications & Expertise
• Practical experience in tissue sectioning, staining and laboratory sample processing.
• Experience in staining optimization, antibody validation and multiplex immunofluorescence/TSA workflows.
• Hands-on experience with cancer cell lines, mammalian cell culture and CAF culture.
• Experience in 3D tumor spheroids/co-culture systems and functional cellular assays is desirable.
• Ability to maintain laboratory records, follow SOPs and support quality-controlled experimental workflows.
Project Technical Support-II
Number of Positions : 01 (One)
Duration of Position : Initially for 01 year, extendable annually up to 04 years (duration of the project), subject to
satisfactory periodic performance evaluation.
Emoluments : ₹20,000/- per month + 20% HRA. Increment @5% on initial emoluments after completion
of every two years, subject to performance review.
Age Limit Upper age limit : 30 years. Age relaxation as per applicable ICMR/Government of India rules.
Minimum Essential Qualifications
B.Sc. MLT with Two-year experience. Or B.Sc. with Three years of experience in recognized lab after degree. Or M.Sc. MLT Or MSc in Biological Science subject with relevant experience.
Desirable Qualifications & Expertise
• Experience in basic laboratory sample handling and preparation.
• Familiarity with reagent handling, laboratory consumables and routine equipment operation.
• Ability to maintain inventory, laboratory records and documentation.
• Experience in sample logistics, laboratory housekeeping and compliance with SOPs is desirable.
General Terms & Conditions
1. The post is purely temporary, contractual, and co-terminus with the project. The appointment is terminable with one month's notice from either side without assigning any reasons.
2. Selected candidates will have no claim for regular appointment or absorption under BHU, ICMR, DHR, or the Government of India.
3. Benefits of Provident Fund, CCA, LTC, and medical claims are not admissible. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test/interview or joining the post.
4. Candidates currently employed in government, autonomous, or private institutions must produce a "No Objection Certificate" (NOC) at the time of the interview.
5. The PI reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates called for interview to a reasonable limit based on qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed.
6. Incomplete applications, applications without necessary enclosures, or applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
7. Candidates appearing for the interview must produce original certificates and documents for verification.
