Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
This position entails responsibility for computational modelling support of various Clean Air customer-focused technical programs.
Responsibilities
The holder performs computational efforts to support global Clean Air customers in HD diesel, LD diesel and gasoline applications as well as alternative fuel applications. The support includes, but is not limited to, the development, validation, application, and maintenance of computational models. It also includes the support of customers in the utilization of these models. Some travel to customer sites and other JM sites (up to 10%) may be required.
• The holder interacts closely with the Clean Air customers and JM Technical Program Managers and RTPMs to identify customer and internal modelling needs
• The holder communicates computational modelling results internally and to customers
• The holder supports the GTADs/GTAMs/Application Managers and Global Computational Modelling Manager in implementing Key Customer modelling strategies.
• The holder interacts closely with the modelling team at JM US, JM Royston, JM India, and JM Gothenburg to coordinate and align model development efforts
• The holder interacts closely with the modelling team at JM Sonning to coordinate and align NA model development with core model development efforts
• The holder has shared decision-making authority in developing models and determining the model parameters
• The holder has sole decision-making authority in running simulations and shared authority in making recommendations derived from those simulations, such as catalyst sizing.
• The holder has sole decision-making authority in sponsoring data collection programs to generate models
• Timely delivery of accurate models and modelling support are requirements for the major Clean Air customers. The holder shares accountability for those deliverables. Hence, the role has indirect impact on global business wins and influences customer retention.
Candidate Profile
• MS (required) / PhD (preferred) Degree in Chemical / Mechanical /Materials engineering or Chemistry
• 1+ years of experience in exhaust aftertreatment related fields with specialization in computer modelling, preferably of diesel exhaust aftertreatment devices; or PhD in one of the above fields with focus in computational modelling
• MATLAB/Simulink experience and working knowledge of commercially available after-treatment software like AVL Boost, CFD, and reacting flow packages
• Good working knowledge of catalyst design and/or application
• Skillful in the use of computer packages to analyze data and prepare presentation materials for customers
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
