The ICMR-National Institute of Traditional Medicine (ICMR-NITM) is an institute of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the only institute in the ICMR family dedicated to harnessing knowledge on Traditional Medicines. Established on 20th May 2006 as Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), it started research on regionally relevant diseases as well as documentation and validation of various traditional medicinal remedies practiced in the region. RMRC Belagavi was upgraded to the stature of a National Institute and was renamed as ICMR-National Institute of Traditional Medicine on 20th June 2017. Its mandate was expanded to influence public health outcomes by facilitating the integration of traditional medicinal practices with modern health system through research, human resource development, and outreach activities. Thus, NITM researches both traditional as well as modern medicine and works on aspects of traditional medicine that can be integrated into the modern health system.
Eligible candidates are invited for the walk-in interviews/skill test for the following temporary posts under ad-hoc extramural research projects to be conducted at MRHRU, Sirwar, Raichur District.
Research Associate-I
No of post : 1 (UR)
Title of the Project : “A demonstration project for reduction of TB in India- a multi-centric study (Mega TB Elimination Project)”
Duration : up to 30-06-2024 (Initial Offer will be for 6 months and subsequent extension would be accorded based on performance)
Posting at : ICMR-NITM Belagavi/ Kalburgi District for fieldwork
Essential Qualification / Experience : M.Sc / M.Pharm / Pharm.D / ME / M.Tech with 3 years of research experience. OR Ph.D / MD / MS / MDS or equivalent degree
Desirable : Pharm.D / Ph.D / MPH/ MBBS/ MD with research experience in the relevant area NET / GATE / GPAT qualified candidates will be given preference Job requirement: Research Associate will be responsible for liaisoning, communicating &coordinating with the team & other stakeholders, and carrying out overall activities related to the project; IEC activities, lab work, data entry, and other field-related activities
Consolidated Emolument : Rs.47,000/- plus HRA per month

Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical)

Title of the Project : “Model Rural Health Research Unit (MRHRU)”
Project Duration : Upto 31.03.2026 (Initial Offer will be for 6 months and subsequent extensionwould be accorded based on performance)
Posting at : MRHRU Sirwar, Raichur
Essential Qualification / Experience : • First Class Post Graduation Degree, including the integrated PG degrees, with the three years experience or PhD OR
• Second Class Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG degrees, with PhD and three years experience.
Desirable : • Skills of Microbiology/Molecular Biology/Immunology related laboratory techniques
• Knowledge of good laboratory practices and skill of equipment/chemicals management and maintenance
• Knowledge of research methodology and Skill of scientific writing
• Knowledge of data management and analysis
• Leadership quality
Consolidated Emolument : Rs. 67,000/- +HRA
Upper age limit : 40
*(Relaxed upper age limit by two years in case of women candidates for Research Associate-I)
Terms and Conditions :
1. Interested eligible candidates may Walk-in for Skill Test / Interview at MRHRU, Sirwar, Raichur District as per the schedule given below, along with duly filled prescribed application form, self-attested photocopies and original of documents and supporting educational qualifications and desired experience for verification.
2. Number of vacancy is likely to vary.
3. Above position is for ad-hoc extramural research projects purely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project.
4. Recruitment will depend upon requirement of project and subject to approval of the competent authority.
5. The rates of emoluments/ stipend are project specific and may vary according to sanction of the funding agency of the project depending on availability of funds.
6. Age Concession: Age relaxation is admissible in respect of SC/ST/OBC candidates, project employees and ex- Serviceman in accordance with the instructions issued by ICMR from time to time. Age concession to the extent of service rendered in other research projects will also be admissible for experienced and skilled persons, subject to approval of competent authority.
7. Cut-off date for age limit will be as on the date of walk-in-interview.
8. Reserved category candidates must produce their Caste Validity Certificate. OBC candidates must possess a latest valid non-creamy layer certificate.
9. Qualification and experience should be in relevant discipline / field from an Institution of repute. Experience gained after acquiring the minimum essential qualification will only be considered.
10. Mere fulfilling the essential qualification does not guarantee the selection.
11. Persons already in regular time scale service under any Government Department / Organizations are not eligible to apply.
12. No TA/DA will be paid and candidates have to arrange transport/ accommodation themselves for written test/ interview.
13. The institute reserves right to consider or reject any application / candidature.
14. Submission of wrong or false information during the process of selection shall disqualify the candidature at any stage.
15. Selected candidate will normally be posted at the study site; however, they can be posted to any other sites in the interest of research work. They are liable to serve in any part of the country.
16. Selected candidate shall not have any claim on a regular post in this Institute or in any Department of Government of India and their project service will not confer any right for further assignment or transfer to any other project or appointment / absorption in funding agency or in this institute. Benefits of Provident Fund, Pension Scheme, Leave Travel Concession, Medical claim, etc. are not admissible.
17. Initial appointment will normally be for a period of one year or the period mentioned in the advertisement. Further continuation/extension of service will depend on tenure of the project and performance of the concerned project employee by his/her project investigator, subject to approval of competent authority.
18. The Project Investigator and/or appointing authority reserves the right to terminate the service of project personnel even during the agreed contract period or extended contract period without assigning any reason.
19. The Director, NITM reserves the right to cancel/ modify the recruitment process at any time, at his discretion.
20. The decision of the Director, NITM will be final and binding.
21. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
