Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata (IISER Kolkata) was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. IISER Kolkata is designed to reach the prestigious position in the global setting that IISc, IIMs and IITs presently enjoy. IISER Kolkata is an autonomous institution awarding its own degrees. The central theme of the IISER Kolkata is to integrate education with research so that undergraduate teaching as well as doctoral and postdoctoral research work could be carried out in symbiosis.
Post : Project Intern
Applications are invited for one Project Intern at IISER Kolkata for Soil Analysis of samples collected from forests of Madhya Pradesh. Require a Project Intern for a project on ‘Monitoring Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services for Ecosystem Enhancement under the Green India Mission’, funded by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. The Intern will carry out soil analysis on collected from 11 Forest Divisions of Madhya Pradesh. The position is be based at IISER Kolkata.

Essential Qualifications : A bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/ Forestry/ Environmental Sciences/ Ecology/ with knowledge and orientation in soil analysis. A minimum of six months of research experience (including MSc/BSc dissertation) in soil nutrient analysis and estimation of other soil properties is highly desirable.
Desirable Qualifications : Applicants with hands-on experience in working with a CHN analyser or similar equipment will be preferred.
Duration and Salary : The employment will be for a period of 10 months. The selected candidates will be paid Rs. 15,000 monthly (consolidated).
Age limit : Not more than 28 years on the last date of application. The upper age limit is relax-able up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to scheduled casts / tribes / OBC, women and physically handicapped candidates.

Interview : Shortlisted candidates will first be called for an online interaction with the project proponents for initial screening after which the candidates will be further shortlisted for a formal interview. The shortlisted candidates will receive a call letter mentioning the time and date of the interview/interaction via email. The formal interview will be conducted online or on site at IISER Kolkata campus, depending on preference of the candidate. No TA/DA will be provided to the candidate for the interview.
Terms and Conditions
a) The project is ongoing, and the selected candidates are expected to join immediately after selection.
b) All posts are purely temporary and contractual in nature.
c) The number of candidates to be shortlisted will be decided based on the applications received. Mere fulfilment of the eligibility criteria does not guarantee a call for an interview.
d) The appointment of the candidate will be governed by the terms and conditions of the said project of the funding agency
