In order to promote medicinal plants sector, the Government of India has set up National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) on 24th November 2000. Currently the board is located in Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy), Government of India. The primary mandate of NMPB is to develop an appropriate mechanism for coordination between various ministries/ departments/ organizations in India and implements support policies/programs for overall (conservation, cultivation, trade and export) growth of medicinal plants sector both at the Central /State and International level.
Applications are invited for filling up the following vacant posts on deputation (including short-term contract) basis in the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), Ministry of AYUSH, New Delhi, as per details mentioned below.
Senior Research Assistant
Eligibility Conditions, Experience etc, for filling up of the post on Deputation Basis (including short-term contract basis)
Officers under the Central or State Governments or Union Territories or Universities or recognised Research Institutes or Public Sector Undertakings or semi-Government autonomous or statutory organisations:
(a) (i) holding analogous post on regular basis in the parent cadre or department; or
(ii) with three years service in the grade rendered after appointment thereto on a regular basis in the Scale of Pay of Rs.9,300-34,800 + Grade Pay Rs.4,200 (Revised Pay Matrix Rs.35,400-1,12,400 in Level-6 in the Seventh Pay Commission) or equivalent in the parent cadre or department;
(iii) with six years’ service in the grade rendered after appointment thereto on a regular basis in the Scale of Pay of Rs.5,200-20,200 + Grade Pay Rs. 2,800 (Revised Pay Matrix Rs.29,200-92,300 in Level-5 in the Sevenih Pay Commission) or equivalent in the parent cadre or department; and
(b) Possessing the following educational qualifications and experience:
Essential
Masters degree of Science in Botany or Pharmacognosy or Forestry or Agriculture or Horticulture or Medicinal Plants or Bio-Technology or Pharmacy (with Pharmacognosy as a main subject) from a recognised University or institute or equivalent.
Desirable
(i) Two Years experience of working in a Government or semi Government department or reputed non-Government organisation dealing with Research, Development and Cultivation of Medicinal and Aromatic plants.
(ii) Knowledge of computer operation.
Pay Scale : Pay Matrix Rs. 35,400 - 1,12,400 in Level-6
Note:-
Period of deputation (including short-term contract) including period of deputation(including short-term contract) in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organisation or department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed three years. The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation shall be not exceeding fifty-six years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.
Research Officer (Botany)
Eligibility Conditions, Experience etc, for filling up of the post on Deputation Basis (including short-term contract basis)
Officers under the Central Government:
(a) (i) holding analogous post on regular basis; or
(ii) with three years’ regular service in posts in the Scale of Rs. 1640-2900 (Revised Pay Matrix Rs.35,400-1,12,400 in Level-6 in the Seventh Pay Commission) or equivalent; or
(iii) with eight years’ regular service in posts in the Scale of Rs.1400-2300 (Revised Pay Matrix Rs.29,200-92,300 in Level-5 in the Seventh Pay Commission);and
(b) Possessing the following educational qualifications and experience:
Essential
(i) Master’s degree in Botany/Pharmacy (with Pharmacognosy as the main subject) from a recognised University or equivalent
and
(ii) Two years’ experience of identification of drugs and medicinal plants used in Indian Systems of Medicine.
Desirable
Knowledge of Pharmacopoeial Standards and Taxonomical knowledge of Medicinal Plants for identification.
Pay Scale : Pay Matrix Rs. 56,100 - 177500 in Level-10

Period of deputation (including short-term contract) including period of deputation(including short-term contract) in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organisation or department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed three years. The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation shall be not exceeding fifty-six years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.
