Job Openings for M.Pharm, MSc in Research at CIAB - Ministry of Science & Technology

Center of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB) is an autonomous national institute under Department of Biotechnology (Govt. of India). This futuristic innovation institute of its own kind in the country has a mission of advancing knowledge, leads and emerging technologies/processes relevant to agri-food sector towards applications and products. It aims to link them with societal benefits through catalysing/promoting entrepreneurial action around bioprocesses, bio-products, value-addition to bioproducts etc. with special reference to the agri-food sector.

(A) FELLOWSHIPS FUNDED BY CIAB FOR INTERNAL R&D PROJECTS / ACTIVITIES

1. Junior Research Fellow (Chemical/Material/Nano Science) – One position
Age limit – 28 Years
Fellowship – Rs. 31,000/- per month + (HRA as admissible or Hostel facility, if available)
Tenure : One Year, extendable (post-evaluation) for subsequent years subject to satisfactory progress, institutional needs and financial provisions.
Qualifications : (i) M.Sc. in Chemistry (any discipline)/Biochemistry / Nanotechnology from a recognized University / Institute OR M. Pharm. / M.S. (Pharm.) / M. Tech. in Medicinal Chemistry / Process Chemistry / Pharmaceutical Technology / Biotechnology / Nanotechnology from a recognized university/institute and
(ii) NET / GATE / GPAT / any other relevant equivalent nature of test qualified.

Junior Research Fellow (Chemical Sciences) – One position
Age limit – 28 Years
Fellowship – Rs. 31,000/- per month + (HRA as admissible or Hostel facility, if available) Tenure: One Year, extendable (post-evaluation) for subsequent years subject to satisfactory progress, institutional needs and financial provisions.
Qualifications:
(i) M.Sc. in Chemistry (General / Organic / Inorganic / Physical / Others) from a recognized University / Institute OR M.E. / M. Tech. (Chemical Engineering) from a recognized university/institute and
(ii) NET / GATE / any other relevant equivalent nature of test qualified.

(B) FELLOWSHIPS UNDER EXTERNALLY FUNDED PROJECTS AT CIAB, MOHALI

1. Project Associate – Two positions
Project Title – “Exploration of native microorganisms and biocatalysts from traditional fermented products of Sikkim Himalayas for development of lactose free and bioactive peptide enriched milk-based functional products”.
Funded By – Department of Biotechnology (Government of India).
Principal Investigator – Dr. Sudhir Pratap Singh, Scientist-C
Duration of the project – Three Years
Age limit – 28 Years
Qualifications
(i) M.Sc in Biotechnology / Microbial Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Microbiology from a recognized University / Institute OR M. E. / M.Tech in Biotechnology from a recognized University / Institute and
(ii) NET / GATE / any other relevant equivalent nature of test qualified.
Fellowship – Rs. 31,000/- + (HRA as admissible or Hostel Facility, if available) Rs. 25,000/- + (HRA as admissible or Hostel Facility, if available) for candidates without qualifications at point (ii) above.

Junior Research Fellow – One position
Project Title – “Chemo-Enzymatic Processing of Kinnow Juice Industry for Value Added Nutritional Products”.
Funded By – Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) under ECRA scheme of DST (Govt. of India).
Principal Investigator – Dr. Meena Krishania, Research & Innovation – System Analyst Tenure of fellowship/Duration of the project – Upto 23rd February, 2021
Age limit – 28 Years
Fellowship – Rs. 31,000/- + (HRA as admissible or Hostel Facility, if available) Qualifications – (i) B.E. / B. Tech. / M.E. / M. Tech. (Food Engineering / Food Technology / Biotechnology / Biochemical) or M.Sc. (Food Science / Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Microbiology) from a recognized University/Institute and
(ii) NET / GATE / any other relevant equivalent nature of national tests qualified

The interested candidates may send their filled-in application form (available on institute’s website) along with self-attested photocopies of relevant education, experience, caste (if applicable) certificates by e-mail only to: ciabrecruitment542020@gmail.com latest by 13th November, 2020. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview through video-conferencing mode.

Process of Engagement
The applications received will be screened by a committee for shortlisting the candidates for interview. The eligible applicants would be interviewed by a duly constituted committee through video-conferencing mode. The committee would recommend the candidates, if found suitable, for consideration of the competent authority for engagement on purely on Fellowship/Stipendiary basis. Provisions of registration for Ph.D exist at Universities/Institutes having MoU with CIAB subject to scholar’s tangible performance, promise, academic suitability, etc.

2. The above research opportunities are open only to Indian Nationals.

• All the positions are based at Mohali, Punjab but some works may be assigned to be carried out at outstations also.
• Number of positions may vary.
• Relaxation of age for various categories (including woman candidates) shall be as per rules of DST and other Government of India agencies.
• If in any area no suitable candidate is found, no selection would be made in that case.
• Candidates found eligible after scrutiny of applications, shall be required to appear before a Selection Committee through video-conferencing mode. Kindly note that in case there are substantial number of applicants, the Chief Executive Officer, CIAB reserves the right to devise such criteria as deemed fit to shortlist the candidates for the interview. The decision of the CEO, CIAB shall be final and binding on all in this respect.
