CSIR-IHBT is one of the 38 national laboratories of the Council of Scientific Industrial Research. It is located in the backdrop of snow-covered peaks of Dhauladhar mountain range at an elevation of 1300 m amsl. The Institute has a focus to develop technologies for boosting bioeconomy through sustainable utilization of Himalayan bioresources for societal, industrial and environmental benefits. The institute has successfully carried out mission-oriented projects on medicinal plants, aromatic plants, Himalayan floriculture, tea and selected crops of industrial significance. With a strong IPR portfolio based on cutting-edge science, the institute pursues research in diverse areas such as enzyme prospection for industrial development, bioreactor systems for production of high value bioactive molecules, health and nutraceuticals, prospection of biofuels and biopolymers, next generation sequencing of economically important plants including fungi /microbiome/algae, ethnobotany, bioresource surveys and mapping, natural colours dyes, and introduction of new crops for livelihood enhancement. The Institute has state-of-the-art facilities for food, fruit, vegetables, aromatic plants and tea processing, cell and tissue culture, aeroponics and hydroponics, free-air CO 2 temperature increase, remote sensing GIS, bioinformatics, nanobiology, virology, modern polyhouses, etc.

Senior Research Fellow (SRF)
Educational Qualification : M.Sc./B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks and one publication in SCI Journal and should have completed at least two years of post M.Sc./B.E./B.Tech. research experience;
OR M.Tech./M.E. or equivalent degree in engineering/technology with at least 60% marks;
OR B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent degree with at least 60% marks and two years research experience as on the last date of application;
OR MBBS/BDS or equivalent with at least 60% marks and one year internship;
OR B.Pharm./BVSc./B.Sc.(Ag.) or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks and one publication in SCI Journal and should have completed at least three years research experience;
OR M.Pharm./MVSc./M.Sc.(Ag.) or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks and one publication in SCI Journal and should have at least one year research experience. PLUS CSIR/UGC-NET-LS qualified
Stipend : 35,000/-p.m. + HRA
