NIT Rourkela is one of the premier national level institutions for technical education in the country and is funded by the Government of India. Government of India has elevated the Regional Engineering College, Rourkela to a deemed university under the name of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela. The main objective of the institute is to produce quality Engineers and Scientists in Graduate and Post-Graduate levels in various branches of Engineering and Science. The institute is managed by the Board of Governors of National Institute of Technology (Rourkela) Society and vested with significant degree of administrative and financial autonomy.

Post : Junior Research Fellow

Applications are invited on prescribed format for the following assignment in a purely time bound project to carry out research work, experiments & analysis and to pursue Ph.D. in the Department of Life Science of the Institute.

Research Project : Genome-wide Profiling of PIWI-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) by Next-Generation Sequencing and investigating their role in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Name of the Sponsoring Agency : DBT, Govt. of India

Tenure of the Project : From 2013 to NA

Tenure of the Assignment : 03 Years (based on the performance) OR completion of the project, whichever is earlier

Job Description : To carry out research work & experiments related to the project and register for Ph.D. on the topic of this project

Consolidated monthly compensation / Fellowship :
Rs.25,000/- (1st two years) & Rs. 28,000/- (3rd year) (Depending on the position, qualification & experience)

Essential Qualifications and experience :
M.Sc./M.Tech (or equivalent) in Life Science / Biotechnology / Molecular Biology / Biological Sciences/ Microbiology / Biochemistry/ Zoology / Animal Science / Genetics OR any other related branch of biological science with minimum 60% of marks or 6.5 CGPA in 10 point scale Candidates with valid GATE or NET of CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT/ (Lectureship/JRF) will be given preference.

Desirable Qualifications / Experiences :  Prior experience in animal cell culture/ RNAi/ molecular biology techniques (PCR, RT-PCR, Western Blotting, Immunofluorescence, Electrophoresis, Flow cytometry, reporter assay etc.) and knowledge of NGS analysis will be preferred..

Accommodation : Bachelor accommodation in the hostel will be provided and Campus accommodation may be provided to married students subject to availability.
