Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) is an autonomous academic institution established by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India with regional and global partnerships synergizing with the programmes of UNESCO as a Category II Centre. The primary focus of RCB is to provide world class education, training and conduct innovative research at the interface of multiple disciplines to create high quality human resource in disciplinary and interdisciplinary areas of biotechnology in a globally competitive research milieu. RCB provides a platform for interdisciplinary research & education at the biotech interface of engineering & medicine, chemistry & physics, agriculture & climate science to empower human resources to drive biotech science and provide a common platform for innovation, enterprise, and industrial development to germinate. The Centre would be beneficial to India as well as other Member States of UNESCO in this region towards developing knowledge-rich, highly skilled human resource, harmonizing policies & procedures in biotechnology and indirectly promoting trade.
The Advanced Technology Platforms Centre (ATPC) is a major research resource of the NCR Biotech Science Cluster (NBSC) that is established through the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB). The NBSC is being developed by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, on a 200-acre site located at Faridabad within NCR Delhi. The ATPC is a technology support initiative to promote multidisciplinary research for health innovation and would comprise of high throughput technology platforms such as, but not limited to, genomics and proteomics, macromolecular structure determination, high-resolution microscopy, protein expression and purification etc. The ATPC will make available these high-end technologies to members of the NBSC as well as other academic and industry researchers in a revenue generation model to support its financial sustenance.
RCB is looking for a dynamic, result-oriented and dedicated individual to head the ATPC and invites applications from suitable candidates. The candidate must have a Master’s degree in any branch of natural sciences, medicine or engineering with at least 20 years of experience as a technology expert in an interdisciplinary biomedical research laboratory in an industrial or academic setting. Candidates with a Ph.D. degree will be eligible for consideration with 15 years experience as indicated above. A post-graduate qualification in business management is highly desirable. An ideal candidate should have an in-depth knowledge and expertise in one or more technology areas identified above for the ATPC and sound business acumen to lead the ATPC in an enterprise model. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain quality control parameters in workflows associated with different facilities in a multi-institutional environment and experience of establishing and managing technology platforms for innovative research in interdisciplinary biomedical areas will be an added advantage.
The appointment will be made in the Senior Scientist grade upto the level of a Scientist ‘H’ depending upon the level of experience & expertise of the selected candidate.
