For ANRF Funded Project entitled “A molecular understanding of mitochondrial disorder in an Indian patient cohort: a new avenue for molecular diagnosis, therapeutics, and disease management” (P#5509)
Qualification & Experience (Essential) : • First class Master’s Degree in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology or Biotechnology or Human Genetics.
• NET qualified or equivalent.
Qualification & Experience (Desirable) : One year research experience in biochemical assays, enzyme assays, General Molecular biology experiments like DNA isolation from blood and tissues, primer design, PCR, qPCR, Sanger sequencing, basic bioinformatics.
Job description
Project Staff will be responsible for coordinating patient appointments, sample collection, clinical data collection and entry, respiratory chain analysis in blood and muscle tissue, and communication with other participating centers. Project staff should be able to independently perform the following tasks :
• Collect blood samples from OPD and wards.
• Record and enter clinical data accurately in case record forms and electronic databases.
• Perform biochemical enzyme assays and ELISA.
• Isolate genomic DNA from blood cells.
• Conduct PCR, qPCR and Sanger sequencing.
• Perform genetic analysis, including variant interpretation.
• Undertake any other experiments or assignments as instructed by the Principal Investigator.
Monthly emoluments : 37,000/-+ 20% HRA
Age limit as on 01.11.2025 : 35 years
Number of vacancies : Existing -1 (SC)
(In absence of eligible SC candidates, ST will be considered; Further in absence of eligible ST candidates, UR will be considered).
Nature/Tenure of appointment : Temporary (Purely on contract), initially for a period till 19.09.2026 (likely to be extended till 19.09.2028) or till completion of the project, whichever is earlier.
