Established in 1984, the Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTech) is one among the chain of 37 national laboratories, 6 units and 39 outreach centres of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research. Set-up to be a fore-runner in the niche domain of microbial biotechnology, the Institute in its initial years functioned from a start-up laboratory that provided a truly world-class R&D ambience in an area of over 10,000 sq. ft. to its researchers. In September, 1989, upon completion of the permanent campus, the Institute shifted to occupy an area of about 47 acres, of which the labs covered 22 acres and the residential campus 25 acres.

Monthly Emolument (Rs.) : 18,000/- +HRA

Laboratory Assistant/Technician/ Project Assistant/ Technical Assistant/ Field Assistant
Min. Qualification : B.Sc./ 3 years Diploma in Engineering & Technology
Upper Age Limit : 50
Monthly Emolument (Rs.) : 20,000/- +HRA Increment of 15% for 3 years of experience with maximum ceiling of 4 such revisions i.e. up to 12 years of experience

Project Associate-I
Min. Qualification : Master’s Degree in Natural or Agriculture Sciences/ MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent
Upper Age Limit : 35
Monthly Emolument (Rs.) :
(i) 31,000/- +HRA to Scholars who are selected through (a) National Eligibility Tests-CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or
(b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies and institutions.
(ii) 25,000/- +HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above.

Project Associate-II
Min. Qualification :
(i) Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent; and
(ii) 2 years’ experience in Research and Development in industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services.
Upper Age Limit : 35
Monthly Emolument (Rs.) :
(i) 35,000/- +HRA to Scholars who are selected through a process as mentioned 3(i) above.
(ii) 28,000/- +HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above.

Senior Project Associate
Min. Qualification :
(i) Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent and
(ii) Four year’s experience in Research and Development in industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services OR Doctoral Degree in Science / Engineering / Technology / Pharma/ MD/ MS from a recognized University or equivalent
Upper Age Limit : 40
Monthly Emolument (Rs.) : 42,000/- +HRA

Principal Project Associate
Min. Qualification : (i) Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent; and
(ii) Eight years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services OR
(i) Doctor degree in Science/ Engineering/ Technology/ Pharma/ MD/ MS from a recognized University or equivalent; and
(ii) Four years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services.
