India possess diverse livestock resources including meat animals. Indian meat sector contributes significantly to sustain livestock production. India produces about 68 lakh tonnes of meat utilizing about 10 crore meat animals such as cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goat and pigs and 21 crores poultry. Meat group contributed 17 percent at Rs. 40399 crores to the value of output from livestock sector during 2007-08. Meat exports accounts for 77% of total animal products exports. However, India with 16% of worlds livestock population produces only 2.2 % of world meat production and average meat consumption as low as 5kg per annum.

Qualifications
Essential : Master of Science in Microbiology / Biotechnology with NET qualified or equivalent with two years of research experience or Master of Veterinary Science in Veterinary Microbiology / Veterinary Public Health / Biotechnology / Veterinary Pathology or Master of Technology in Biotechnology / Master of Pharmacy.
Desirable: Experience of working in microbiological laboratory, handling of pathogens, knowledge of molecular techniques such as PCR, electrophoresis, PFGE. DNA isolation, screening for antimicrobial resistance, in vitro AMR assays etc.
Duties :
The candidate has to work in microbiological laboratory performing bacterial culture, isolation and identification of bacteria, performing molecular assays Work also involves field work for collection of samples for isolation of the pathogen and handling of birds.

Eligible candidates may report for walk-in-interview at 10:00 AM on 17-12-2019, at ICAR-National Research Centre on Meat, Chengicherla, Hyderabad - 500 092 Candidates reporting after 1100/1430 hrs may not be entertained. Candidates possessing the prescribed essential qualification will only be considered for the interview. Candidates should bring along with them filled-in application form in the format provided herewith along with one set of self-attested copies of certificates related to qualifications / age / experience etc. All original certificates should be presented for verification.
