The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is a growing phenomenon. Located in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, RGCB began in 1990 amongst humble surroundings as a small charitable society called the Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (C-DEST). In 1991, recognizing its potential, the C-DEST was made a “Grant-in-Aid” institute of the Government of Kerala and renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (RGC-DEST), becoming the first institute in the country to be named after Sri Rajiv Gandhi, the young illustrious and visionary former Prime Minster of India.
Post : Junior Research Fellow
Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Junior Research Fellow in a DBT funded research project entitled "Antibiotic permeation through porins in gram positive bacteria at the single molecule level" under the supervision of Dr. Mahendran K R at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.
Essential Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Life Science/ Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Chemistry/ Physics or Biochemistry with 70% marks with a valid JRF/ Score in national level examination conducted by the Central Government Departments/ Agencies such as CSIR-UGC-National Eligibility Test (NET)/ MHRD - Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)/ DBT-Biotechnology Eligibility test/ IACR- All India Competitive Examination (AICE)/ Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology & Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JBEEBILS)/ ICMR - JRF Entrance Examination/ Lectureship in CSIR-UGC.
A minimum of 1 year experimental work experience in a lab in the field of membrane proteins, molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, analytical chemistry and biophysical techniques.
Age & Emoluments
Below 28 years as on November 29, 2019. Age relaxation will be given as per Govt. of India norms.
Emoluments : 25,000/- + 20% HRA per month.
Duration
The project will be active for 2 years but the initial appointment will be given for one year and further extension will be based on the performance
Selection Process
Suitably qualified candidates may send applications in the prescribed format with a photograph, a copy of full resume indicating the percentage of Marks obtained and attested photocopies of credentials & experience to reach the undersigned on or before ,November 29, 2019. Envelopes must be superscripted with abbreviated title of the project, advertisement number and job title. Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project. Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply and will be called for interview. In the event of more than 10 candidates being short-listed by screening the applications, a written test will be conducted before the selection interview and only those who are successful in the written test will be interviewed.
No TA/DA/Other emoluments will be given for appearing in the interview.
