With a coastline of about 3,500 miles, inland sources in Rajasthan and Little Rann of Kutch, and the rock salt mines in Mandi, India have possibilities of attaining a high position in salt production among the salt producing countries of the world. As is known, apart from being an indispensable item of food, salt is an important raw material for the manufacture of several heavy chemicals e.g. soda ash, caustic soda and chlorine. Besides, salt is used in food processing industries, such as fish curing, meat packing, dairy products and fruit and vegetable canning.

Research Associate – I/II/III (depending on the experience)
Qualifications : Ph.D (science/engineering) or ME/M.Tech with three years R&D experience as on the date of interview, evidenced from fellowship or associateship or from the date of registration of Ph.D. The candidate must have at least one research paper in the standard referred journal as listed in Journal Citation Reports (JCR).
Emoluments per month :
Rs. 36,000/- + HRA (RA – I)
Rs. 38,000/- + HRA (RA – II)
Rs. 40,000/- + HRA (RA – III)
(HRA will be provided as per CSIR/CSMCRI norms)
Age limit (as on date of interview) : 35 years (age relaxation as per CSIR rules)
Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
Qualifications : M.Sc. with first class in Physics/Chemistry + NET/GATE
Emoluments per month :
Rs. 25000/- (consolidated)
Age limit (as on date of interview) :28 years (age relaxation as per CSIR rules)
PhD (science/engineering) thesis submitted are also eligible for RA’ship. Selection in such a case will be subject to the condition that PhD viva-voce done & declared qualified for award of PhD/awarded PhD degree before the expiry of the validity of the award offer.

Job description: Selected candidate will work on a DST-SERB sponsored project on the fabrication of nanofilms of polymer and polymer composite membranes for desalination, water purification, and molecular separation.
Duration: This position is purely temporary for the duration of the project (ca. three years). It would, therefore, not confer any right/claim implicit or explicit for any candidate for claiming extension or absorption in CSIR/CSMCRI.
