The BITS BioCyTiH Foundation is a Section 8 non-profit company hosted by BITS Pilani under the National Mission of Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) of Government of India (GOI). The mandate of the company is to fashion a platform that would foster translational research, innovation, skill development and training in areas of bio-cyber-physical systems (Bio-CPS) related to healthcare, agriculture, water and environment. The aim is to build state of the art national facilities across three campuses of BITS Pilani (viz. Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad), extend support to researchers, innovators and startups building products and solutions. As part of the infrastructure a Bio-CPS focused incubator is planned to be built and operationalized which will house innovators and startups.

Duration : 18 months
Project Title (Project. No) & Details : Isolation of white blood cells in a microfluidic device with applications to Point-of-care diagnostics. The research aims at isolating or separating white blood cells and plasma from small quantities of human blood using hydrodynamic methods in a microfluidic device. Post separation, the separation stage will be integrated with a sensing platform for subsequent detection and diagnostics and will be used for point-of-care testing of important analysts of interest.
Job Description and Responsibilities : Candidate will be required to apply concepts of Bio-mechanics and fluid mechanics to innovate microdevices for cell separation. Candidates will be required to conduct experiments and perform computational studies as part of the project work.
Eligibility Criteria : Candidates must hold a 1st Class M.Tech / M.Sc / MS / ME / B.Tech / B.E in Mechanical Engineering / Chemical Engineering / Biological Engineering / Biotechnology / Biochemistry or equivalent. CSIR-UGC NET qualification or GATE score.
Qualification and Experience:
Essential : Basic knowledge of fluid mechanics
Desirable : Working knowledge in Microfluidics/Particle Dynamics/ Bio-sensors or Biological applications of microfluidics, Point-of-care devices
