The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) is an autonomous body under the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha & Homoeopathy (AYUSH), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The Council is an apex body in India for formulation, development and promotion of research in Ayurvedic system of medicine. The Council carries out its activities and functions through its network of 31 Institutions located all over India.

The Central Research Councils function under Ministry of AYUSH, Govt, of India to promote and coordinate research activities in the respective systems of medicine, as indicated below:

Ayurveda: Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS)
Yoga & Naturopathy: Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN)
Unani: Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM)
Siddha: Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS)
Homoeopathy: Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH)

The CCRAS on behalf of the above-mentioned five Central Research Councils invites applications from Non-AYUSH candidates who have qualified the concerned National Eligibility Test, namely Joint CSIR- UGC test for JRF and LS(NET); DBT- JRF in Biotechnology: Bio-technology Eligibility Test(BET); ICAR's AICE-SRF (PGS); and ICMRJRF and willing to undertake research on AYUSH related projects for pursuing Ph.D. programmes in the University/ Institution of their choice. The research project shall be in the fields of Biomedical Sciences with emphasis on Life Sciences such as Microbiology, Physiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Human Biology, Biotechnology, Immunology, Pharmacology, Zoology, Environment Science, Botany, Veterinary Sciences, Bio-informatics, Pharmacy; Chemical Sciences such as Biochemistry, Chemistry including Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry-Phyto Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Natural Product Chemistry; and Physical Sciences including Biophysics.

 

The candidates will be required to apply project proposals to the concerned Research Councils. A panel of experts will select the best of the projects for considering grant to the candidates, stream wise as detailed below:

Essential Qualification: Post Graduation in Biomedical Sciences with emphasis on Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Physical Sciences as mentioned above. 

The upper age limit for applying for the award of Junior Research Fellowship for Non-AYUSH candidates shall be 28 years as on the date of issue of advertisement in the Employment News. This will be relaxable up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to Schedule Castes/Schedule Tribes/OBC, Physically Handicapped (lower locomotive disability only) and female applicants.

The fellowship will be provided for pursuing Ph.D. under a recognised University/Institution of choice by the candidates and during their fellowship, they will be termed as lunior Research Fellows (IRFs) for 2-3 years extendable as Senior Research Fellows (SRF) for 2-3 years, total for maximum 5 years. The monthly emoluments will be Rs. 25,000/- for JRF and Rs. 28,000/- for SRF + House Rent Allowance per month + annual contingency of Rs. 20,000/- to the University/Institution. In addition, the fellow may submit a project proposal to obtain one time Research Contingency Grant-in-Aid up to Rs. 01.00 lakh within 3 months of joining the fellowship subject to approval of the concerned Research Council. 

The interested candidates possessing the above mentioned qualification as on the date of publication of advertisement in the Employment News may apply to the concerned research councils directly in the prescribed application form for the respective streams of their interest viz. Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy. Candidates interested to apply in more than one stream of AYUSH are required to apply separately to respective councils. The Application form and Fellowship Scheme are available on the following websites of Research Councils viz. CCRAS-ccras.nic.in, CCRYN-ccryn.org, CCRUM-ccrum.net, CCRS-siddhacouncil.com, CCRH-ccrhindia.org and Ministry of AYUSH-ayush.gov.in. Only the Shortlisted candidates will be informed and called for interview by the respective Councils. The applicants are advised to visit these websites regularly for updates.
