Job Openings for Pharmacists under Health Department, BTSC

In the light of the requisition received through the General Administration Department, Bihar, Patna for regular appointment to the vacant posts of Pharmacist under Health Department, Bihar Patna, online applications are invited from eligible candidates (who are citizens of India) in the prescribed form on the Commission's website btsc.bihar.gov.in from 11.03.2025 to 08.04.2025. The details of posts, pay scale and educational qualification for Pharmacist received by the requisitioning department are as follows.

Post : Pharmacist

No of posts : 2473 (UR-904, EWS-226, SC-458, ST-29, EBC-495, BC-273, WBC-88)

Pay Scale : Unrevised Pay Scale - 5200-20200 and Grade Pay-2800 and Pay Level-5 in 7th Revised Pay Structure

Essential Educational Qualification:-
(i) Passed Intermediate/10+2 (Science).
(ii) Also, passing all parts (1.11 and III) of Diploma in Pharmacy from a Government recognized institute and having the related certificate will be essential.
(iii) The candidate must be registered with Bihar Pharmacy Council.
Note:- Candidates who have passed B.Pharma and M.Pharma must also have passed D. Pharma.

Age Limit:-
(i) Minimum age is 18 years as on 01.08.2024.
Maximum Age Limit:-
(a) Unreserved:- 37 years
(b) Unreserved Female:- 40 years
(c) Backward Class/Extremely Backward Class (Male/Female):- 40 years
(d) Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (Male/Female):- 42 years


The date of birth of the candidate mentioned in the Matriculation or equivalent certificate will be considered valid by the Commission.
(ii) In the light of Resolution No. 962, dated 22.01.2021 of the General Administration Department, relaxation of 10 years in the maximum age limit is admissible for the disabled.
(iii) Resolution No. 2374, dated 16.07.2007 and letter no. 13107, dated 20.09 of the General Administration Department. In the light of 2019, Aero Government servants (regularly appointed Government servants of Bihar Government) who have completed three years of continuous service are admissible 5 (five) years relaxation in the maximum age limit for joining the service of higher pay scale.
(iv) Candidates duly employed on contractual basis on the post of Pharmacist in State Government Hospitals/Health Department, institutions affiliated to Government of Bihar and non-private (under the control of Central Government, Panchayati Raj, Municipal Bodies) hospitals situated within the State of Bihar may be given relaxation in the maximum age limit for a period equivalent to the period of the said employment and any part of working year will also be included in it. The cut-off date for calculation of age relaxation will be 01.08.2024.
(v) In the light of the provision of Circular No. 212, dated 23.01.2006 of the General Administration Department, in the advertisement number 0606/2006 published for Pharmacist in earlier years, age was calculated from the date of 01.08.2005. Therefore, candidates who fall under the said maximum age limit from 01.08.2005 to 01.08.2024 or have attained the maximum age during the said period will also be eligible for the said advertisement, provided they fulfill other eligibility criteria.
(vi) The benefit of relaxation in maximum age limit equivalent to work experience and contract period to the candidates working on contract will be payable in regular employment on the same post on which the candidate is working on contract.
(vii) A candidate will be entitled to only one of the relaxations in maximum age limit as per clause-2 (ii), (iii), (iv), (v) and (vi).

Application Fee :- The application fee prescribed for applying online is as follows:-
General Category / Backward Class / Extremely Backward Class / Economically Weaker Section : Rs. 600/-
Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe (Permanent Resident of Bihar State) : Rs. 150/-
Female Candidates of Reserved / Unreserved Category (Permanent Resident of Bihar State) : Rs. 150/-
Candidates from outside the state, irrespective of their category, be it female / male : Rs. 600/-
• Disabled candidates of all categories will have to deposit one fourth of the examination fee prescribed for the unreserved category, i.e. if Rs. 600 is prescribed for the unreserved category candidate, then the disabled candidate will have to pay only Rs. 150 as examination fee.
• The application fee will be deposited by the candidates through online mode only through debit card / credit card / internet banking / UPI and a copy of the receipt will be kept safe with the applicant. (Note:- Payment of fee shall be accepted through online mode only.)
• In online payment, the candidate will have to pay the charge prescribed by various banks in addition to the above mentioned examination fee, which will be automatically taken by the bank as bank charge in the order of online payment.
• Candidates of all such categories, who deposit application fee as per SC/ST and Disability, and if the relevant certificate is not submitted by them in future, their candidature will be cancelled on the basis of Concessional Application Fee. Disabled candidates and SC/ST category candidates are informed in this context that if they voluntarily deposit the application fee as per general candidates, then their candidature will be safe at this point.


Selection Process:- 
The Commission will select the candidates on the basis of written competitive examination and work experience.
(i) The merit list of the candidates for selection on the basis of written competitive examination and work experience will be prepared as follows:-
(a) Total marks for written competitive examination (Computer Based Test) : 75 marks
(b) Work experience in Government Hospitals/Health Department of the State, institutions affiliated to Bihar Government and non-private (under the control of Central Government, Panchayati Raj, Municipal Bodies) hospitals situated within the State of Bihar, 05 marks per year, maximum 25 marks (for part of a year, the proportional marks obtained by multiplying the number of working days by 05 and dividing by 365 will be added) : 25 marks
Total:- 100 marks
Note:- (1) The percentage of marks obtained by a candidate in the written competitive examination will be determined by multiplying the marks obtained by a factor of 0.75. For example, if a candidate has obtained 50% marks in total, then he will be given 50x0.75-37.5 marks.
(ii) Written Competitive Examination The Commission will conduct Written Competitive Examination for all the candidates through Computer Based Test.

Syllabus of the exam:-
(a) There will be a total of 100 questions in the question paper of the competitive examination, all the questions will be of multiple choice objective nature. The question paper will be in both Hindi and English languages.
(b) The duration of the exam will be two hours and the total marks will be 100.
(c) Questions will be asked on the basis of Diploma in Pharmacy level syllabus prescribed by the requisitioning department. The said syllabus will be published separately on the website of the Commission.
(d) The said exam will be conducted through Computer Based Test in more than one shift and due to conducting the exam in more than one shift, the result will be prepared by adopting the process of normalization.
(e) Negative marking will be applied for wrong answers in the exam. 01 mark will be given for every correct answer and (0.25) marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
(f) On the basis of the said examination, the result of all the candidates will be declared by adopting the process of normalization.
(g) As per the resolution number-2374, dated-16.07.2007 of the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Bihar and resolution letter-962, dated-22.01.2021 of the General Administration Department, Bihar, it will be mandatory to obtain the minimum qualifying marks of 40% for general category, 36.5% for backward class, 34% for extremely backward class, and 32% for Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe, women and disabled candidates in the written examination.
Note :- No claim of the candidate will be accepted if the candidates do not get the minimum qualifying marks as per their category in the competitive examination.

Important Instructions : 
Information related to certificates/mark sheets related to qualification/reservation/work experience in online application form, such as-
(i) Original certificate of Matriculation
(ii) Mark sheet and original certificate/Provisional Certificate of Intermediate (10+2)
(iii) Mark sheet and original certificate or Provisional Certificate of all years of Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized institute
(iv) Certificate of registration from Bihar Pharmacy Council
(v) Caste certificate/Creamy layer free certificate/Economically weaker section certificate
(vi) Permanent residence/Residential certificate
(vii) Certificate of grandson/granddaughter of freedom fighter of Bihar State
(viii) Disability certificate
(ix) Work experience certificate (in prescribed format)
By entering the same, the candidate will ensure to upload all the said certificates/mark sheets in the prescribed column. The Commission will be free to cancel the candidature if any certificate/mark sheet is not uploaded.
Only those certificates/mark sheets will be valid which the candidate has mentioned in his original online application form. It will be mandatory to mention the number and date of issue of all the said certificates/mark sheets in the online application and upload them in the prescribed column and all the said certificates/mark sheets must be issued by 08.04.2025.

• To issue work experience certificate (in the format attached in Appendix-1) for the candidates claiming work experience under clause-5 (iii) of the advertisement, the civil surgeon of the concerned district, principal in case of medical college, superintendent in case of medical college and hospital, director in case of super speciality hospital and head of the institutions mentioned in clause-5 (i) (b) of the advertisement will be the competent authority.
• All the certificates mentioned in the advertisement and the final online application must be downloaded and kept safe as hard copy. The applicant must definitely submit the said hard copy and self-attested photocopies of all the relevant certificates at the time of document verification or at any time when asked by the Commission.
• Such certificates/mark sheets which are not mentioned/uploaded in the online form will not be accepted by the commission in document verification and the candidates themselves will be responsible for being deprived of the preference of qualification/reservation/work experience on the basis of the same and no claim in respect of the same will be accepted. In document verification, only those certificates/mark sheets which have been uploaded by the candidate in the online application will be verified by matching them with the original. No other certificate/mark sheet will be accepted by the commission in document verification.
At the time of document verification, all the certificates/mark sheets uploaded by the candidate in the online application have to be downloaded from the commission's website and submitted for verification. Candidates are directed to upload clear and precise documents in the online application which have been properly scanned through a scanner. The Commission will be free to cancel the candidature even at the time of document verification if blurred/unclear/black/unreadable documents/certificates are uploaded.
• It will be mandatory to submit all the certificates, mark sheets mentioned in the application form in original at the time of document verification. In case of non-submission of certificates/erroneous certificates during document verification, no separate certificate will be accepted by the Commission. The Commission will be free to take a decision regarding the eligibility of candidates who do not comply with the above instructions.
• All information related to this advertisement will be published on the Commission's website www.btsc.bihar.gov.in. Therefore, candidates will keep checking the Commission's website regularly. There will be no obligation to publish separately in newspapers, inform the candidates through SMS or E-mail.
• Printed, typed, handwritten applications other than the online application prescribed for this advertisement will not be accepted. Also, incomplete, unclear, unsigned and late online applications will be rejected and fees will not be refunded.
• All the entries in the online application will be filled carefully by the applicant. No change / correction in the application will be accepted in future. The Commission will not be responsible for any kind of error and the applicants themselves will be responsible for any adverse result. No consideration will be given to any application for correction in the online application and such applications will be rejected.
• It will be mandatory for the candidate to get the document verification done on the date fixed by the commission. Candidates who are absent in the document verification will not have any claim for getting the document verification done again.
