BRIC - National Institute of Immunology Admission to Ph.D. Programme for the Academic Year 2025-26

The National Institute of Immunology is committed to advanced research addressing the basic mechanisms involved in body's defence to identify modalities for manipulation of the immune system to provide protection against diseases and understand mechanisms that can be used to target disease processes for intervention.

BRIC- National Institute of Immunology (NII) invites applications from eligible from eligible candidates for its Ph.D. programme. Cutting-edge research at NII encompasses broad interdisciplinary areas of Immunology, Infectious and Chronic Disease Biology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Chemical Biology, Structural Biology and Computational Biology.

Minimum qualifications
A. M.Sc. in any branch of science (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics), M.Tech;, M B.B.S.. M.V.Sc.M.Pharm., Integrated M.Sc.. or equivalent qualification as per the norms of the Regional Centre For Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad, Haryana.
B. At least 60% aggregate score or equivalent grade in (he qualifying examination Five percent relaxation in aggregate scores will be applicable for candidates from the reserved categories [(OBC (non-creamy layer, NCL), SC/ST. PwD and EWS (who are not covered under the scheme of reservation for SCs, STs, and OBCs)]. Rounding off the percentage score to the next integral value is not permitted
C The candidates must have a valid doctoral fellowship sponsored by the University Grants Commission, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, the Indian Council for Medical Research, the Department of Biotechnology, or any other Government-recognised agency. Students with DST-INSPIRE fellowship are also eligible provided the fellowship can be activated
D. Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in the current academic year are eligible to apply; they will be admitted provisionally pending satisfactory fulfillment of the eligibility requirements atthe time of joining.
E. Candidates awaiting results for the fellowship examination results are also eligible to apply for the entrance examination. However, they will be invited for interviews only if they secure their fellowship.

F. Reservations of seats: 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 27% for OBC (NCL), 5% for persons with disability (PwD). and 10% for economically weaker sections (EWS) as per statutory norms.
• Reservation of 5% seats in respect of PwD candidates shall be done horizontally, as per the Government of India Guidelines/Policy.
• Reservation for EWS : The persons belonging to EWS, who are not covered under the scheme of reservation for SCs, STs, and OBCs, shall get 10% reservation in admission


Selection procedure
A. Nil will select candidates for the Ph.D programme only through the computer-based Entrance Examination, NII-2025-26 M (Monsoon-Session). to be conducted by Nil at multiple centers across India on 11th May, 2025 (Sunday).
B. The list of candidates short-listed for interviews shall be available on the Nil website and Notice Board on or before 16th May, 2025.
C. Interviews (two rounds) will be held online during 3"-10”'June, 2025.
D. Candidates selected will be enrolled for the Ph.D programme of Nil in academic affiliation with RCB. Faridabad. Haryana.

Ph.D. Programme
A. The programme will start on 1st July, 2025. The allotment of laboratories and thesis supervisors will be made by 09th July, 2025 based on the interactions with faculty members in the candidate's area of interest and mutual preference.
B All candidates must activate their Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) from CSIR. UGC, ICMR, DBT, DST joining Nil.
C. Nil is a residential campus, and shared hostel accommodation will be provided to all the students admitted to the program
Application procedure:
A. Candidates should submit their applications through Nil online application portal only. The details of the application process are available at  nii.res.in.
B. Online application fee is Rs. 1200/- for GENERAL/ OBC (NCL) candidates and Rs. 600/- for SC/ST/ PwD/EWS (non-refundable).
C. Online application facility will be available on the Nil website from 17'" March, 2025 to 08 ’April, 2025

F. The name of the candidate and the date of birth should match the corresponding entries in the Secondary School Certificate (10' ) or equivalent.
G. Candidates must ensure that the information details furnished in the online application are true and correct. If any discrepancy is observed at any stage. Nil reserves the right to cancel the admission.
