Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali, Punjab, an autonomous institution of Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, has been established under the umbrella of NANO MISSION, initiated by DST to boost research and development in the field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in India. INST started its activities on 3rd January 2013, the date on which its first Director was appointed.
Post : Senior Project Assistant - 01 Post
Applications are invited from highly motivated and bright candidates for engagement of Senior Project Assistant in the research project funded by ‘ICMR, Government of India at Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali.
Title of the Research Project : “Development of CRISPR based nanotherapy for Parkinson’s Disease”.
Principal Investigator : Dr. Surajit Karmakar, Scientist-G
Essential Qualifications : • Graduate (Science discipline) with minimum 60% marks + 3 years of relevant work experience in nanoparticle synthesis, characterization and biomedical application. OR
• Postgraduate in Molecular Biology / Biochemistry / Nanobiotechnology / Zoology / Microbiology with minimum 60% marks and hands on experience in basic laboratory techniques. Candidates who have qualified UGC /NET / SLET / GATE or any equivalent National level examination will be preferred.
Desirable Experience : 1. Experience in Various Biochemical Assays, mammalian Cell Culture, Animal handling, Molecular Biology / Nanobiotechnology Techniques as well as routine lab experiments.
2. Experience in nanoparticle synthesis, characterization and biomedical application.
Age limit : Must not be over 28 years as on 17.04.2025, which is relaxable for certain reserved categories as per rules of Government of India.
Fellowship : Rs. 30,600/- p.m (fix)
Duration : Initially one year and may be extended based on performance of the candidate and availability of funds.
The selected candidate will :
• Conduct research related to nanoparticle-based drug delivery and neurodegenerative disorders
• Perform animal handling, molecular biology experiments, and nanobiotechnology-based analysis
• Manage laboratory work and assist in data collection and analysis
General Terms and Conditions
• The position is purely temporary and on contractual basis and renewable each year subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds, for a maximum of three years/till the duration of the project. The position is co-terminus with the project.
