National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hyderabad is an "Institute of National Importance" with proclaimed objectives of becoming Centre of Excellence for advanced research in pharmaceutical sciences. NIPER-Mohali was the first institute established in the year 1998 under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, the Govt. of India. Later, the DOP established 6 new NIPERs across the country including NIPER-Hyderabad which started functioning from 19th October 2007, from the premises of erstwhile R&D Centre of IDPL, Balanagar, Hyderabad.
NIPER-Hyderabad invites applications for direct PhD admission from highly motivated students for the upcoming 2021 session. NIPER-Hyderabad is an "Institute of National Importance" with proclaimed objectives of becoming Centre of Excellence for advanced research in pharmaceutical sciences leading in basic and translational human health. PhD students will have abundant opportunities to develop scientific disposition. Students will interact with top-notch faculties with expertise in various areas of advanced chemical, biological, pharmaceutical and biotechnology. They will be exposed to cutting edge tools and techniques in a multidisciplinary research environment. The institute has several high-end equipment to support their research work as well as tie ups with various industry in the pharma sector. NIPER-Hyderabad has several collaborations with private industries and R& D companies which provide ample opportunities to students for placements as well as exposure of current challenges. Our PhD program also encourages student to submit their thesis after completing a minimum period of 3 years to a maximum period of 5 years.
Eligibility Criteria : Individuals desirous of seeking direct admission to PhD at NIPER must have a Masters degree (M. Sc., M. Tech., M. Pharm.) in any branch of Biological Science or Pharmaceutical Science or Chemical Sciences. Candidates must mandatorily have secured CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/INSPIRE NET JRF/UGC-RGNF or any other national research fellowship for 5 years. Admission of candidates having DSTINSPIRE fellowship shall stand invalid in case the candidate fails to get fellowship. Those with only GATE, GPAT or other certification exams are not eligible.
The candidate should have good academic background and have passed the qualifying degree with 60% minimum marks or CGPA of 6.75 out of 10. The terms and conditions, fellowship amount, etc. will be governed by the awarding agency and further subject to the rules and conventions of the Institute.

Application Procedure : Interested candidates who meet the above criteria can directly sent their CV via email to dean.niperhyd@gov.in indicating their research area on or before March 31, 2021. Soft copies of certificates in support of date of birth, educational qualifications, reservation category (if applicable), and fellowship examination qualified must also be sent along with the CV.
