National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences is a multidisciplinary Institute for patient care and academic pursuit in the frontier area of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences. The Lunatic Asylum which came into being in the latter part of the 19th Century was renamed as Mental Hospital in 1925 by the erstwhile Government of Mysore.
Post : Junior Research Fellow
WALK-IN-SELECTION for filling up of the post of “Junior Research Fellow” on contract basis for the DBT funded project entitled “Assessment of extracellular alpha-synuclein on midbrain astrocytes – implications in the pathophysiology of Parkinson’s disease” – under Dr. Indrani Datta, Associate Professor of Biophysics & Principal Investigator.
Essential Qualification : M.Sc OR MPharm Degree in any field of science / Biophysics / Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Regenerative Medicine with a good academic record
Experience : Candidates with hands-on experience in molecular biology, cell culture & western blot are encouraged to apply
Nature of Work : The project covers extensive Live-cell imaging and flow cytometry techniques in detecting functional parameters (intracellular calcium, mitochondrial membrane potential, exocytosis & endocytosis) of rodent midbrain astrocytes and neuronal cells, fluorescent tagging of peptides in monomeric and aggregate form, protein and gene expression studies.
Maximum Age Limit : 35 Years Age relaxation will be given for suitable candidates
Emoluments : Rs 25,000/- + 30% HRA Per Month
Duration of the project : 3 years Initial appointment will be made for a period of six months and will be extended further depending upon the performance of the candidate.
