The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research, is one of the oldest medical research bodies in the world. The ICMR has always attempted to address itself to the growing demands of scientific advances in biomedical research on the one hand, and to the need of finding practical solutions to the health problems of the country, on the other.

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), an Autonomous Organization under Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare invites application(s) up to 14th April. 2020 till 5.30 PM for three Posts of Director at the following Institutes in Level 14 of Pay Matrix (Rs.1,44,200-2,18,200) (7th CPC Scale) and usual allowances as admissible to ICMR employees:-
1) National Institute of Pathology, New Delhi
2) National Institute for Implementation Research on Non-Communicable Diseases, Jodhpur (formerly known as Desert Medicine Research Centre (DMRC), Jodhpur)
3) National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, Chennai
Essential Qualification & Experience:
i) MD/MS/DNB or equivalent degree* recognized by MCI
OR
First Class Master’s degree with Ph.D from a recognized University in Biochemistry, Food and Nutrition, Economics with specialization in Health Economics, Psychology, Biology/ Bioscience, Entomology, Genetics / Medical Genetics, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular biology, Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Toxicology, Virology, Zoology, Biotechnology, Bio-Informatics, Biostatistics/Statistics subjects.
ii) 16 years R&D experience in the relevant areas (mentioned in Annexure I) from a recognized institute, (preferably 5 years in a managerial position to handle R&D projects independently) including 2 years regular service in the Pay matrix level-13-A or equivalence as per DoPT guidelines as amended from time to time**.
Out of above experience, five years should be in Managerial Research position viz., PI or Co-PI of Scientific studies.
* Regular 2 years Masters of Public Health (MPH) with one year experience or MRCP or subjects approved by MCI will be considered equivalent to MD / DNB
** In case applicants are from Private Sector or Laboratories / lnstitutions abroad, the Screening Committee shall decide the equivalency of Pay Scale.
Age limit: Upper : age limit is 58 years.
The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be as per the guidelines of Department of Personnel and Training issued from time to time. Age relaxation will be in accordance with Government of India instructions and the prescribed age may be relaxed in exceptional cases for experienced and qualified candidates by DG, ICMR.
Duration of the contract : The initial appointment will be for a duration of 5 years or till superannuation, whichever is earlier. A second term for maximum of 5 years or till superannuation, whichever is earlier may be considered by a review committee, subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria as per Recruitment Rules. During this tenure, if the incumbent is from ICMR, he/she will hold lien of his/her substantive post at ICMR.
Fee : Application Fee of Rs. 500/- (Rupees five hundred only) is required. SC/ST/Women/PWD candidates are exempted from application fee. Application Fee is to be paid by candidates through Crossed Demand Draft (DD) in favor of Director-General, ICMR, payable at New Delhi.

ii) Following self attested required documents are to be enclosed with the application

c) Experience
iii) Filled Application duly signed by the candidate and recent passport size photograph affixed on it along with Demand Draft towards application fee and all required documents should be sent to the Dy.Director-General(Admn.)(Room No.418), Indian Council of Medical Research. P.O. Box No. 4911, V.Ramalinqaswami Bhawan, Ansari Naqar, New Delhi- 110029 (India) on or before 14thApril, 2020 till 5.30 PM. The name of the post and Institute/Centre for which the candidate applies must be mentioned on the top of the envelope.
Other conditions :
i. Separate application should be submitted for each post alongwith separate Demand Draft.
ii. Application received after the closing date for whatever reason is liable to be rejected.
iii. In the event of any false information furnished or suppression of any material in the application coming to notice at any time during the service of a person, his/her services would be liable to be terminated.
iv. Application unsigned/incomplete or without supportive documents is liable to be
rejected.
v. The application from employees working in Centre/State Government Department/ Public Sector Undertakings & Govt, funded research agencies must be forwarded through proper channel along with the certificate of the employer that “the applicant will be relieved within one month of his/her receipt of appointment order”. Advance copies of application will be considered subject to the condition that a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the employer is produced at the time of personal discussion.
vi. Any outside influence (political or otherwise) brought in by a candidate shall
disqualify him/her.
vii. Any matter for which no specific instruction has been given shall be decided by ICMR and the decision shall be final and binding on the candidates.
viii. Any further detail/communication shall be displayed on ICMR website only.
