Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) was established in the year 1989 as an autonomous institute under the administrative control of Govt. of Odisha. In 2002, it was taken over by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. The Prime Minister of India Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee dedicated the institute to the nation in July 2003. Institute of Life Sciences has a broad vision of carrying out high-quality multidisciplinary research in the area of life sciences. The goal is for overall development and betterment of human health, longevity, agriculture and environment. The stated mission of the institution is to work towards upliftment of the human society and generate skilled human resources for future India.

Projects: “Crosstalk between autophagy and cellular inflammation in cancer and infectious diseases”
Principal Investigator: Santosh Chauhan, PhD, Scientist D, ILS Bhubaneswar Fellowship: Rs. 36000/- per month + @20%HRA
Eligibility and Selection: Ph.D. in Biotechnology or Life Sciences. Candidate should be very well versed with basic cell biology and molecular biology techniques Experience in mammalian cell culture, molecular biology techniques and cell biology techniques is highly desirable. Candidates having experience in handling mice and candidates having first author publication in peer-reviewed journal in above subject areas will be given preference.
Candidates who have submitted Ph.D. thesis and are waiting for viva voce may also apply. For such candidates, fellowship amount will be that of an SRF until he/she defends Ph.D. thesis. Selection will be carried out through application screening, followed by an interview process.
