The “Central Government Health Scheme” (CGHS) for the Central Govt. employees and their dependents was started in New Delhi in 1954. Subsequently, the scheme was extended to pensioners, freedom fighters and other specific groups of people. The scheme was introduced in Kolkata during 1972. Apart from Delhi and Kolkata, the scheme now covers the cities of Mumbai, Allahabad, Meerut, Kanpur, Patna, Nagpur, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Jaipur, Pune, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, Shillong, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Bhubaneswar and Ranchi.

Qualifications required:
Essential:
(i) 12th class pass with Science subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) or equivalent oriental qualification in Urdu or Arabic or Persian;
(ii) Diploma in Pharmacy from recognised University or Institute.
(iii) Two years' experience as Unani Pharmacist in recognised Unani Hospital or Pharmacy:
OR (i) Degree in Unani pharmacy from a recognized University or Institute.
Note 1: The qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Staff Selection Commission or Competent Authority in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
Note 2: The qualification(s) regarding experience is relaxable at the discretion of the Staff Selection Commission or Competent Authority in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes, if at any stage of selection, the Staff Selection Commission or Competent Authority is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates belonging to these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the posts reserved for them.
Age limits: if any: 18-25 years.
(Relaxable for Government servants upto the age of 40 years in case of general candidates and upto 45 years in the case of candidates belonging to 45 years in the case belonging to SC/ST in accordance with the instructions or orders issued by the Central Government from time to time). Note 1: The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the closing date for receipt of applications in India (and not the closing dates for those in Assam, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of J&K State, Lahaul and Spiti Districts and Pangi Sub Division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands or Lakshwadeep) Note 2: In the case of recruitment made through Employment Exchange, the crucial date for determining the age-limit shall be the last date up to which the Employment Exchage is asked to submit the names.
