The PGIMER owes its inception to the vision of late Sardar Partap Singh Kairon, the then Chief Minister of Punjab and the distinguished medical educationists of the then combined state of Punjab, supported by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who considered the institutions of scientific knowledge as temples of learning and the places of pilgrimage. The institute started in 1962 and Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru inaugurated the hospital now named “Nehru Hospital” on 7th July 1963. The Institute was originally under the Government of undivided Punjab. After the reorganization of the state, the administrative control of the institute passed on to the Union Territory of Chandigarh in November 1966. The Institute became an autonomous body under the Act of Parliament in 1967 functioning under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
Applications are invited for the below mentioned posts under HIV Sentinel Surveillance 2012 (funded by National AIDS Control Organization) on a contractual basis for a period of two years.
Post: Project Coordinator
Qualification: 1. MD Community Medicine
Or
2. PhD Life Sciences/Statistics
Or
3. MBBS + 3yrs Research experience in the field of HIV
Or
4. M.Sc life Sciences or Statistics with 3 yrs Research experience in the field of HIV
Or
5. MPH + 2 yrs Research experience
Job Description:
• Should have good understanding of HIV/AIDS program and other related health issues.
• Should possess good communication skills as job involves coordination with SACS/SST members/NACO/NIHFW for implementation the HIV Sentinel Surveillance in the allotted states. Other tasks include
• Managing the project.
• Planning and conducting operations research,
• Data analysis, interpretation and report writing besides
• Any other task assigned by the faculty incharge.
• Publication of atleast 3 research papers: Desirable
Emoluments/month (fixed): Rs. 69790/-
