The National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) is an autonomous institution of Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, for a mandate of basic research, teaching & training, and as a national repository for cell lines/hybridomas etc. The Centre is located in the midst of academically enriched environment of Savitribai Phule Pune University Campus, Pune.
NCCS invites applications for following posts on various extramural projects purely on temporary basis.
Senior Research Fellow
Number of posts : 01 (One)
Name of the Project : Influence of obesity/associated factors on immune cells (monocytes and macrophages) as well as on DNA damage response and its implications in cancers.
Name of the PI : Dr. Manoj Kumar Bhat
Essential Qualification & Experience: Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following & should have 2 years of research experience. A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE. B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.
Desirable Experience : Experience in cancer biology, cell biology and molecular biology techniques, developing and handling mice for experiments and tumour tissues processing, knowledge of basic immunology, metabolic diseases and enzymology is important. Good working knowledge of flow cytometry and microscopic techniques is must.
Project Tenure : Up to 05.06.2026
Total Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 35000 /- + HRA

Junior Research Fellow
Name of the Project : Understanding the role of RNAi-mediated antiviral host defense against DNA Viruses.

Essential Qualification & Experience : Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE.
B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.
Desirable Experience : The candidate must have experience of at least 1-2 years in Basic Cell and Molecular Biology Techniques like PCR, handling Cell lines, Cloning, RNAi, Northern and Southern Blot etc.
Project Tenure : Up to 31.12.2023
Total Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 31000 /- + HRA
Age limit : Not more than 28 years as on last date of application.
Project Assistant
Number of posts : 01 (One)
Name of the Project : “Delineation of the major brain G protein, G o mediated signaling pathway using C. elegans model system.”
Name of the PI : Dr. Santosh Kumar
Essential Qualification & Experience : B.Sc./ 3 years Diploma in Engineering & Technology
Desirable Experience : Candidates with strong background in Cell Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology techniques will be preferred. Candidates with prior experience in C. elegans genetics and cell biology will be given preference.
Project Tenure : Up to 29.12.2024
Total Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 20,000/- + HRA
Age limit : Not more than 50 years as on last date of application.
