This Institute came into existence on 1st April,1976 when the India Centre of JALMA was officially handed over to the Govt. of India and subsequently to the Indian Council of Medical Research. This was named as Central JALMA Institute for Leprosy in 1976 and has been renamed as "National Jalma Institute of Leprosy and other Mycobacterial Diseases" in 2005 to reflect its broader research areas. This Institute was originally established as "India Centre of JALMA" in 1966 and was managed by a Tokyo based voluntary organisation -JALMA (Japanese Leprosy Mission for Asia). This Institute is one of the fine examples of international human links and compassion for each other.

Essential Qualification & Experience : M.Sc / Master’s degree in the subjects of Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry or any other branches of Life sciences with minimum 60% marks and a good academic record.
Candidate should have qualified CSIR-NET / JRF, UGC- / NET / JRF / ICMR-JRF / GATE or any other National level eligibility exam
Age limit : 30 years. Age relaxation is admissible as per ICMR guidelines.
Consolidated emoluments : Rs. 31,000/- + 18% HRA P.M. fixed without any other allowances at present.
Desirable qualification/Experience : Candidate with good laboratory experience in Immunological techniques for cell culture, protein separation, western blotting, flowcytometry and Molecular Biology techniques will be preferred.

Tenure : Initial contract will be till 18.12.2023. Likely to be continued based on performance & requirement

The date of interview/written test will be informed later. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the Written Test / Interview. The candidates will bring the original certificates for verification on date of interview/written test. If any of the essential certificates is missing the application will be rejected. No plea/ excuse will be entertained in such cases. The final decision of holding written / interview will depend on number of applications and other factors such as COVID-19 pandemic / any unforeseen event. Depending on the situations a shortlisting process may also be undertaken as per criteria decided by the selection committee under approval of Director / Director-in-Charge, ICMR-NJIL&OMD, Agra. The decision of Director / Director-in- Charge, ICMR-NJIL&OMD, Agra will be final and binding the same.

The recruited project staffs is eligible for leave as per rules and will have to give an undertaking / medical fitness certificate and any other document as required before joining. The conditions of employment will be same as that of the project staff on contract basis. The candidates have no right to claim for any regular employment at this institute. The Director & Appointing Authority has the right to accept/reject any application without assigning any reason (s) and no correspondence in this matter will be entertained. The decision of Director/Director-in- Charge, ICMR-NJIL&OMD, Agra will be final & binding.
