Job Description
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB : The Asia Pacific (AP) Precision Medicine Lead will have responsibility for designing and executing the Precision Medicine Strategic plans for Medical Affairs (MAF) across all disease areas in the Asia Pacific Pharmaceutical Organisation. This role will require working in close collaboration with key cross-functional stakeholders across the regional and local organization. The AP Precision Medicine Lead will lead Medical Affairs activities in support of companion and complementary diagnostics (CDx) for products within Janssen’s targeted therapies pipeline across Therapeutic Areas (TAs) and in all stages of development and commercialization within the Asia Pacific region. The successful candidate should ideally have extensive pharmaceutical or diagnostic medical expertise, with experience in one or more TA’s of interest. This role requires strong leadership with excellent communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to translate the Precision Medicine & Diagnostic Medical strategy into execution for our targeted therapies pipeline.
CORE ACTIVITIES :
Primary responsibilities for this leadership position will include but are not limited to:
• Lead the development and execution of Regional Medical Affairs Precision Medicine strategy in all key markets, for our companion and complementary diagnostics programs
• Develop internal and external customer relationships that successfully support precision medicine business objectives.
• Contribute to and support the execution of the Regional Commercial and Access Diagnostic strategies
• Provide medical precision medicine / diagnostics expertise and guidance to the IVTs & MAF teams, with a strong focus on launch readiness preparation, regulatory and funding requirements, and support the development of Centres of Excellence (CoEs)
• Build current and future competitive advantage by understanding and addressing key customers’ medical needs, and by demonstrating deep understanding of competitors’ development strategies
• Lead scientific evaluation of diagnostics platforms, actively seek effective partnerships and collaboration with appropriate academies and medical societies to support awareness and understanding of the genetic mutations, pathways and pathologies addressed by our assets
• Co-create evidence generation strategies that address unmet medical needs and identify biomarker/diagnostic opportunities for portfolio assets. Support the development of AP-specific value propositions.
• Educate IVT and other local and regional cross-functional teams on the precision medicine landscape and dynamics
• Support successful launches of Diagnostic programs by implementing education and advocacy plans and Precision Medicine events
• Contribute to developing internal MAF capabilities required for long-term success in precision medicine
• Own the budget for assigned medical activities and partnerships
• Establish a productive work environment by creating trust and respect in all interactions
Candidate Profile
• Bachelors degree essential. Advanced qualifications preferred
• 5+ years experience in the Pharmaceutical/biotech/diagnostic industry in progressive medical leadership roles
• Strong leadership skills required. Strong communication skills required
• Strong analytical, scientific and strategic thinking to identify key business issues and establish priorities
• Must exhibit behaviors aligned to the J&J Global Leadership Profile including but not limited to: integrity-credo based actions, collaboration and teamwork, sense of urgency, and ability to drive results
• Awareness and commitment to adhere to J&J Values, SOPs and Policies
• Ability to work with Key Opinion Leaders and external stakeholders
• Experience in diagnostics and precision medicine required
• Regional Medical experience preferred
• Ability to work in strong matrix environment and leading by influence required
• Demonstrated ability to influence and manage a complex set of internal and external stakeholders
• Prior experience working with academics and learning societies is required
• Previous experience working in cross-functional teams
• Asia Pacific specificity awareness
• Fluency in English language required
• Fluency in additional AP languages an advantage
• Able to accommodate substantial travel
