Visva - Bharati founded by the first non-European Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Thākur(popularly known as Tagore) in 1921, Visva-Bharati was declared to be a central university and an institution of national importance by an Act of Parliament in 1951. The President of India is the Paridarsaka (Visitor) of the University, the Governor of West Bengal is the Pradhana (Rector), and the Prime Minister of India acts as the Acharya (Chancellor). The President of India appoints the Upacharya (Vice-chancellor) of the University.
A walk-in-interview will be held for appointment of a JRF in a DST, Govt, of West Bengal funded project (Ref. No-233 (Sanc.)/ST/P/S&T/lG-75/2017) entitled “Development of SNP and miRNA based functional markers for abiotic stress (drought salinity and submergence) tolerance among selected West Bengal rice land races ”
Essential Qualification: M.Sc. in Life sciences with minimum of 55% marks. (Relaxation of SC/ST candidates as per rules)
Fellowship: Rs. 16,000/-per month (for first two years) and Rs. 18,000 per month (for third year) + HRA (as per rules of DST, Govt, of West Bengal)
Age limit: 28 years (The upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to scheduled castes/tribes/OBC, women and physically handicapped candidates.)
The project is tenable for three years depending on the progress of the project. Other terms and conditions will be governed by DST, Govt, of West Bengal and Visva-Bharati rules.
