Amgen is committed to unlocking the potential of biology for patients suffering from serious illnesses by discovering, developing, manufacturing and delivering innovative human therapeutics. This approach begins by using tools like advanced human genetics to unravel the complexities of disease and understand the fundamentals of human biology.
Post: Senior Scientist – Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism
Preferred Qualifications:
- Amgen is seeking a Senior Scientist to join the Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism (PKDM) department at our Syngene Amgen Research and Development Center (SARC) in Bangalore, India.
- In this role you will contribute to the discovery and non-clinical development of small molecule therapeutics as a project team representative with a primary focus on in vitro assay development, metabolite identification, and the elucidation of metabolic pathways and reaction mechanisms at SARC. You will be responsible for establishing and optimizing in vitro assays in order to assess and characterize the role of drug metabolizing enzymes (DMEs) in drug disposition. In addition, you will make meaningful and innovative contributions to the fundamental understanding of the role of DMEs as they relate to the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) of small molecule therapeutics in vivo.
- In this position your core responsibilities are to:
- Serve as a functional representative and subject matter expert on ADME and metabolite identification for small molecule therapeutics at SARC, collaborating with scientists across our three-site PKDM scientific community (Cambridge, MA, San Francisco and Thousand Oaks, CA) and other SARC team members.
- Plan, design, and conduct fit for purpose in vitro studies and in vivo sample analysis; analyze, interpret, integrate and communicate study results
- Identify drug metabolites using LC-MS/MS and other analytical methodologies
- Evaluate, implement and troubleshoot emerging in vitro assays to support the prediction of pharmacokinetics (PK) and drug interactions (DDIs) in humans
- In addition to the core responsibilities, the position provides the opportunity to pursue scientific inquiries into the fundamental physiological and biochemical factors that determine the absorption, distribution, and clearance of small molecule therapeutics. A collaborative and highly capable scientific community at Amgen is available to support these efforts. Interactions and collaboration with academic and other external scientists is encouraged.
