Recruitment for Research and Technical Position in Translational Health Science and Technology Institute

Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) is an autonomous Institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt, of India. The institute is an integral part of the interdisciplinary NCR Biotech Science Cluster located at Faridabad, and is designed as a dynamic, interactive organization with the mission to conduct innovative translational research and to develop research collaborations across disciplines and professions to translate concepts into tangible products to improve human health.
THSTI has set up niche centres for research in areas relevant to planned translational work. They are: Vaccine and Infectious Disease Research Centre (VIDRC), Paediatric Biology Centre (PBC), Centre for Bio-design & Diagnostics (CBD), Drug Discovery Research Centre (DDRC), Centre for Human Microbial Ecology (CHME) and Policy Centre for Biomedical Research (PCBR). Clinical Development Services Agency (CDSA) and National Bio-design Alliance (NBA) are THSTI’s extramural centres.

Senior Research Chemist / Research Chemist, Medicinal Chemistry - 02 Posts
Qualifications & Experience
• M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry with at least one year industrial experience in synthetic chemistry lab (CRO or a Drug Discovery setup).
• Candidate should have knowledge of commonly- used concepts, practices, and procedures within medicinal and/or analytical chemistry.
• Industrial experience is mandatory for this position. and
Desirable skills experience: Candidates having operational understanding of HPLC or NMR instrument will be preferred.

Emoluments/Age : Upto Rs. 50000/- (depending on experience) 35 years

Job description
* Performs a variety of laboratory procedures using   established synthetic methods and techniques under general guidance of a senior scientist in the medicinal chemistry group.
* Conducts experimentsand interprets routine spectroscopic data (e.g., NMR and LCMS).
* Performing multi-step synthesis of the targets or intermediates
* Purification of reaction products by appropriate techniques, e.g., via column chromatography and flash column chromatography
* Characterization   of compounds/intermediate s using spectral techniques like UV, IR, NMR, and MS
* Application of software such as ChemDraw, ISIS draw, Chem. Sketch, MS- Office for scientific purposes
* Adherence to applicable safety and environmental codes and practices.
* Maintenance   and protection of intellectual property   (Research schemes,   journals, analytical   data, material/product safety data sheets etc).

Lab Technician - 04 posts
Qualification:
B.Sc. in Life Sciences or equivalent
Desirable:
• PG Diploma in molecular and cell biology
• Candidates having experience in research laboratory will be preferred.

Emoluments/Age : Upto Rs. 20,000/- 35 years

Job description
Good working knowledge of either the basic laboratory techniques used in Cell and Molecular Biology, or of analytical methodologies, or of computational data managing practices.

Qualification:
• M.Tech in computational biology with atleast 6 years of experience of working in industry.

GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS:

1. Appointment will be made on contract initially for a period of one year, which may be extended for a further period on year to year basis subject to satisfactory performance, with an initial probation period of six months that may be extended at the discretion of the competent authority.

2. All educational, professional and technical qualification should be from a recognized Board/University.

3.The experience requirement specified shall be experience acquired after obtaining the minimum educational qualifications required forthe post.

4.Persons working in Govt. / PSUs / autonomous bodies should apply through proper channel or produce a relevant ‘No Objection Certificate’ at the time of Interview/Written Test/ Skill Test.

5. The age limit, qualification, experience and other requirements may be relaxed at the discretion of the competent authority, in case of candidates who are otherwise suitable. In case candidates are not found suitable for the posts notified, they can be offered lower post / lower emoluments on the recommendation of the Selection Committee.

6. Number of positions filled will be as per the need and availability of the suitable candidates.
