Indian Institute of Maize Research looking for Life Sciences candidates

The ICAR- Indian Institute of Maize Research (ICAR-IIMR) is a premier national institute under the aegis of the Crop Science Division of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. IIMR is mandated to plan, coordinate and execute the research programmes to augment the production and productivity of maize including fodder and specialtycorn in India. It is an ISO 9001:2015 compliant institute.

Applications are invited for recruitment of Senior Research Fellow(Q3 Post), Young Professional-II (01 Post)(purely time bound/non-regular/temporary/contractual engagement and co-terminus with the project) at ICAR-Indian Institute of Maize Research (IIMR), under ‘Enhancing climate resilience and ensuring food security with genome editing tools’ project/sub- scheme. The eligible and interested candidates are to appear physically or virtually before the Selection Committee for Interviews.

Senior Research Fellow (Sr. No. 1)

Educational qualification : Essential: Post Graduate Degree in Plant Biotechnology/ Plant Molecular Biology/ Plant Molecular Biology & Biotechnology/ Agricultural Biotechnology / Plant Sciences /Genetics or Plant Breeding/Biochemistry/ Life Sciences with 4 years /5 years of Bachelor’s degree. The Candidates having post-graduate degree in the above subjects with 3 year s of bachelor’s degree should have DGC/CSIR/ICAR NET qualification Desirable : Research experience in plan t tissue culture (preferably maize/rice/ wheat tissue culture) and Molecular Biology
Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 31000/- +HRA per month
Age Limit : Max 35 Years (Relaxation of 5 years to SC/ST & women candidates and 3 years for OBC Candidates as per GOI/I CAR rules)
Young Professional-II (Sr. No. 2)

Educational qualification : Essential : Post Graduate degree in plant Biotechnology / Plant Molecular Biology/ Plant Molecular Biology & Biotechnology/ Agricultural Biotechnology/ Plant Sciences /Biochemistry/ Life Sciences OR Graduate degree holders in relevant Agricultural Sciences/Technology/ Engineering (i.e 4 years degree) Desirable: Research experience in Plant Tissue culture (preferably maize/rice/ wheat tissue culture), Genome editing and Molecular Biology
Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 42,000/- Consolidated
Age Limit : 21 to 45 years with relaxation as per rules

Senior Research Fellow (Sr. No. 3)
Place of Posting : ICAR-IIMR, Ludhiana

Educational qualification : Essential: Post Graduate Degree in Plant Biotechnology/ Plant Molecular Biology/ Plant Molecular Biology & Biotechnology/ Agricultural Biotechnology/ Plant Sciences /Genetics or Plant Breeding/Biochemistry/ Life Sciences with 4 years /5 years of Bachelor’s degree. The Candidates having post-graduate having post-graduate degree in the above subjects with 3 years of bachelor’s degree should have DGC/CSIR/ICAR NET qualification
Desirable : Research experience in Molecular Biology, genetic engineering, plant science
Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 31000/- +HRA per month
Age Limit : Max 35 Years (Relaxation of 5 years to SC/S T & women candidates and 3 year s for OBC candidates as per GOI/ ICAR rules)

Terms and conditions
1. The above positions are purely temporary and will be filled on a contractual basis initially up to 31st March 2025 and will be extended further based on the satisfactory performance of the candidate till the termination of the project. The selected candidate shall not claim for regular appointment at this institute as the fellowship is co-terminus with the project.
2. Eligible & interested candidates may attend the Interview either physicallyor virtually/ online on the date indicated against the project/scheme along with original certificates and typed bio-data with one set of attested copies of each of their certificates with passport-size photographs.
3. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

6. The selected candidates should be ready to shift to Ludhiana (ICAR-IIMR headquarter) as and when required.
7. Director, ICAR-IIMR, Ludhiana reserves the right to cancel/postpone the interview and/or terminate the contractual engagement even before the completion of the project and no representation in this regard will be entertained. All concerned are advised to regularly visit the institute website (https://iimr.icar.gov.in) for changes/corrigendum, if any. Ineligible candidates will not be allowed to appear for Interview,
8. Those candidates who are already working in any project / scheme / organization should bring / submit a “No Objection Certificate” from their present employer.
9. The experience will be counted after acquiring the basic minimum qualifications.
