The National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) is an autonomous institution of Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, for a mandate of basic research, teaching & training, and as a national repository for cell lines/hybridomas etc. The Centre is located in the midst of academically enriched environment of Savitribai Phule Pune University Campus, Pune. NCCS invites applications for following posts on various extramural projects purely on temporary basis.

The candidates fulfilling the requirements as per the essential qualifications may attend the Walk In Interviews as per the date mentioned below. All should report at 09.30 am sharp at the address given below and those candidates appearing for the interview should register their names in the register, kept at the Security Gate.

Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

Name of the Project : Identifying the role of host F-box proteins, a component of E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, in HIV-1 pathogenesis and their potential use as therapeutic target against the virus.
Name of the PI : Dr. Debashis Mitra
Essential Qualification & Experience : Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following & should have 2 years of research experience. A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE. B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc.
Desirable Experience : 2 Years research experience as JRF in Mammalian Cell Culture, Molecular Biology and Virology will be necessary for the execution of the project and thus will be preferred.
Project Tenure : Up to 09/06/2027
Total Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 42000 /- + HRA

Project Associate - II

Name of the Project : Generation of novel high-affinity human monoclonal antibody cocktail against Rabies virus for efficacious post-exposure prophylaxis.
Name of the PI : Dr. Akanksha Chaturvedi
Essential Qualification & Experience : Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent; And 2 years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services.
Desirable Experience : Experience in antibody cloning, molecular biology techniques, protein & antibody expression, PBMC isolation, ELISA, neutralization assays, SPR is needed.
Project Tenure : Up to 31/08/2025
Total Monthly Emoluments : (i) 35,000/- + HRA to Scholars who are selected through (a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions. (ii) 28000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above.

Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Job Description : The JRF will be responsible for Drosophila melanogaster stocks maintenance, setting up crosses, dissections, behavioural analysis, image and video analysis and molecular biology associated with the project. Experience with Drosophila genetics, setting up crosses, dissection, immunocytochemistry, confocal imaging, image analysis, data analysis, molecular biology, cloning.
Essential Qualification & Experience : B.S. 4 years programme / BPharm / MBBS / Integrated BS-MS / MSc / BE / BTech or equivalent degree, with 55% marks and passing of NET/GATE test.
Desirable Experience : Experience in antibody cloning, molecular biology techniques, protein & antibody expression, PBMC isolation, ELISA, neutralization assays, SPR is needed.
Age Limit : 28Yrs.
Age relaxation : The upper age limit is relax-able up-to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to scheduled castes/tribes/OBC, women and physically handicapped candidates.

Job Description : The candidate will take lead on the execution of the project and report to the PI with research updates in a timely manner. In brief, the candidate will be handling mammalian cell culture; performing molecular biology & cell biology assays, routine lab work; reading relevant literature and participating in lab seminars and work presentations. The candidate will also prepare timely progress report of the project and write manuscript as and when required. The candidate having prior experience of mammalian cell culture, molecular biology and of RNA related lab techniques is preferable.

The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc
Desirable Experience : 1 – 3 years’ experience in the field of Chemistry /Chemical Science / Pharmaceutical Chemistry / Medicinal Chemist and related field with proficiency in Organic synthesis / Column chromatography / HPLC. 1-3 years of experience in drug discovery field either in academic institute / industry (CRO or R&D) with experience in NMR and Mass data analysis. In addition, prior experience in various biophysical experiments (e.g., SPR, CD, UV, FL etc.) will be given preference.

Desirable Experience : Candidate should have some experience with the following techniques:
• Cell culture handling and subcellular fractionation of organelles
• HPLC, protein purification using Affinity & gel-exclusion chromatography
• In-vivo and In-vitro protein-protein interaction and western blotting
• Confocal microscopy, Gene cloning and RT-PCR

Other important Points
1. The Director (Additional Charge), NCCS reserves the right to enhance/reduce the number of posts and cancel the recruitment process, if required. Additional percentage and experience cut-off will be applied during the screening process, if required.
2. The prescribed educational qualifications and experience are the bare minimum and mere possession of same does not entitle candidates to be called for Walk in Interviews. The Centre reserves the right to call for Walk in Interviews only those candidates who in its opinion are likely to be suitable.
3. Number of candidates to be called for the interview may be restricted to a reasonable limit after taking into consideration the essential qualifications and desirable experience over and above the minimum prescribed, in the advertisement. Therefore, it will be in the interest of the candidates, to mention all the qualifications and experience in the relevant field at the time of applying. No interim enquiries/correspondence/communication of any sort will be entertained on this matter.
4. The above advertised positions are filled up purely on temporary basis for the limited time on the extramural projects funded by various funding agencies. The position will automatically co-terminus on the completion of the candidate’s tenure. The appointed person shall have no claim of appointment/absorption in funding agency or in NCCS, Pune.
5. Fellowship/Emoluments: Emoluments to the research personnel engaged under project will be made in accordance with the sanction order or latest DST O.M whichever the case may be.
6. Age relaxation for advertised positions except serial number 04 & 05 limit will be considered as on closing date of receipt of application. Age relaxation of 5 years in case of Women/SC/ST/PII candidates and 3 years in case of OBC candidates will be given as per Government of India rules. OBC candidates must produce latest/valid non-creamy layer certificate. Reservation as per Govt, of India norms w ill be followed.
7. Age & Experience may be relaxed in exceptional cases by the Competent Authority.
8. No TA/DA will be admissible for attending the interview.
9. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence will be treated as disqualification for the post.
10. The posts advertised shall be need based without any commitment for its tilling.
11. Selected candidates w ill have to join duty within one month of the receipt of offer of appointment.
