TIFR is a National Centre of the Government of India, under the umbrella of the Department of Atomic Energy, as well as a deemed University awarding degrees for master's and doctoral programs. The Institute was founded in 1945 with support from the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust under the vision of Dr. Homi Bhabha. At TIFR, we carry out basic research in physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, computer science and science education. Post : Junior Research Fellow
Applications are invited for ONE POSITION of JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (JRF) to work on a SERB-funded project titled "Biological evaluation of sugar-drug conjugates" in the Laboratory of Medicinal Chemistry and Cell Biology [PI: Dr. Malay Patra. Medicinal Chemistry Lab, Department of Chemical Sciences, TIFR Mumbai. Candidates should have national-level entrance qualifications, such as NET/GATE etc. Institute accommodation will not be available, however. HRA will be provided as per the DST/SERB rule.
Qualification
Essential : M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Biology, Biochemistry, pharmacology, or Medicinal Chemistry with minimum 60% marks; Qualified in a National level test such as NET, GATE, etc.
Desirable : Experiences commensurate with the job requirements are desirable. Desirable prior experiences. Mammalian Cell culture, Western blot, Flowcytometry, and Confocal microscopy
Job Requirement
The research project involves:
a. Culturing mammalian cells for experiments.
b. Cellular uptake studies.
c. Cytotoxicity studies.
d. Mechanism of action using Western blot analysis, flowcytometry, qPCR and confocal imaging.
Age Limit and Fellowship Age : Below 28 years on 01.07.2023 Fellowship: As per DST/SERB rules: Rs.31000/- p.m. + HRA as admissible
Nature & Period of Post : Temporary appointment for a period of one year with a possibility of extension for two more years. The extension is subject to satisfactory performance.
