ICMR- Vector Control Research Centre (VCRC), established at Pondicherry (now Puducherry) in July 1975, is one of the permanent institutes of the Indian Council of Medical Research, Department of Health Research, Government of India. VCRC has been engaged in basic and applied research with the primary objective of finding newer methods and developing strategies of vector control for the control of vector borne diseases. The World Health Organization (WHO) has designated the VCRC as a collaborating Centre for Research and Training in Lymphatic filariasis and Integrated Vector Management.
Post : Project Assistant
Applications are invited till 21.07.2022 from the eligible and interested candidates for the following project post which is to be filled purely on contractual and temporary basis to work in the ICMR funded project entitled “Design, synthesis and evaluation of derivatives of select repurposed drugs/protease inhibitors against SARS-CoV-2” at ICMR-VCRC, Puducherry.
Essential Qualification : Graduate in Chemistry / Pharmaceutical Chemistry from a recognised university with three years’ work experience in relevant Synthetic Chemistry from a recognised institution or Master’s degree in Chemistry / Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
Desirable Qualification :
1. Experience in Synthetic Chemistry, Column Chromatographic purification, hands on experience in HPLC, Chemical characterization by FT-IR, NMR and MS spectral data.
2. Experience in chemical data interpretation and report writing.
Nature of Duties
1. Synthesis of arylamides and phlorotannin derivatives, Chromatographic purification and Chemical characterization by FT-IR, NMR and MS spectral data.
2. Chemical data interpretation, report writing and any other duties assigned by the PI
Age limit : Not exceeding 30 years
Consolidated Salary : Rs. 31,000
Contract period : Two years

(2) Only applications submitted either by post or by hand before the last date will be considered. No other mode will be entertained.
(3) The information regarding date of Personal Interview/Written test will be intimated to the shortlisted candidates by email only.
(4) Age, Qualification, Experience etc., will be reckoned as on the last date of receipt of application.
(5) Mere fulfilling the essential qualification does not guarantee for the selection.
(6) Person already in regular time scale service under any Government Department/Organizations are not eligible to apply.
(7) No TA/DA etc., will be paid to the candidate for appearing in Written test/interview.
(8) The selected candidate will have no claim for regular appointment in any ICMR Institutes/Centres for continuation of his/her services in any other project.
(9) Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidate or bringing political or other outside influence with regard to selection shall be a disqualification and such candidates will not be considered.
(10) The Director, ICMR-VCRC, Puducherry has the right to accept/reject any application without assigning any reason(s) and no correspondence in this matter will be entertained.

General Instructions:-
(1) The Candidates found eligible, will be called to attend the Written test and or interview and they are required to be present at the venue on time as mentioned in the call letter.
(2) The offer of engagement will be subject to verification of original certificates as per the advertisement.
(3) No calculators, log tables, communication devices like mobile phone, Tablet/iPad etc., are allowed inside the Examination/Interview Hall.
(4) Request for re-evaluation of answer sheets will not be entertained.
(5) Candidates who resort to malpractice of any kind will immediately be sent out of the Examination Hall.
