The Directorate of Forensic Science services (DFSS) was created in the year 2002 by Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, after bifurcation from BPR&D, based on the recommendations of National Human Rights Commission and Padmanabhaiah Committee on Police Reforms. The Gazette notification to this effect was issued by MHA vide its Order no. 25011/41/2001-GPA.II/PM-II on December 31, 2002. It is headed by Director-cum-Chief Forensic Scientist. It has six Central Forensic Science Laboratories under its control located at Chandigarh, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Pune, Guwahati and Bhopal.
Post : Deputy Director (Forensic Science)
The undersigned is directed to state that one post of Deputy Director (Forensic Science) (Group A Gazetted, Non-Ministerial) in Level - 12 of Pay Matrix is proposed to be filled up under the Directorate of Forensic Science Services. New Delhi on Deputation including Short Term Contract basis.

Eligibility
Officers under the Central or State Government or UTs or Statutory or
Autonomous Organization or PSUs or Universities or Recognized Research Institutes:
a) i) Holding analogous post on regular basis in the parent cadre or department; or
ii) with five years regular service in posts in Level 11 of the pay matrix: and h) Possessing the essential qualifications and experience prescribed as under
(i) Masters degree in Physics or Applied Physics or Biophysics or Mathematics or Applied Mathematics or Forensic Science or Botany or Zoology or Micro biology or Chemistry or Biotechnology or Bio Chemistry or Physical anthropology or Genetics or Pharmacology or Pharmacy or Psychology or Criminology or Computer science or electronics or Human Genetics from a recognised University or Institute.
OR
B.E or B.Tech in (Biotechnology or Civil or Electrical or Mechanical or Electronics or Telecommunications or Computer Science or Instrumentation) or Computer Science and Engineering (CSF.) or Electronics and communications Engineering (ECE) or Information technology or Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) from a recognized University or Institute.
(ii) Ten years experience of analytical work and research therein in any forensic science laboratory/scientific laboratory/recognized research institute under Central or Union Territory or Stale Government, out of which at least eight years experience should be in Forensic Science laboratory.
Note : The Period of deputation including period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization or department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not to exceed four years. The Maximum age limit for appointment by deputation (ISTC) shall be not exceeding fifty six years as on the last date of receipt of applications
The applications in the prescribed proforma in Annexure - II enclosed, in respect of suitable, eligible and willing officials, w ho can be relieved immediately, if selected, may please be sent, along with up-to-date ACRs / APARs of last five years, photocopies duly attested by an officer not below the rank of Under Secretary to Govt, of India, and as also the certificate endorsed at Annexure - II duly signed by the Competent Authority.
