The PGIMER owes its inception to the vision of late Sardar Partap Singh Kairon, the then Chief Minister of Punjab and the distinguished medical educationists of the then combined state of Punjab, supported by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who considered the institutions of scientific knowledge as temples of learning and the places of pilgrimage. The institute started in 1962 and Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru inaugurated the hospital now named “Nehru Hospital” on 7th July 1963. The Institute was originally under the Government of undivided Punjab. After the reorganization of the state, the administrative control of the institute passed on to the Union Territory of Chandigarh in November 1966. The Institute became an autonomous body under the Act of Parliament in 1967 functioning under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

Applications are invited for the following temporary posts in an ongoing DHR funded project entitled, "Development of immune monitoring assays and cellular immunomodulation strategies to improve outcome of islet transplantation in subjects with autoimmune diabetes” under Dr. Naresh Sachdeva, Additional Professor, Department of Endocrinology, PGIMER. Chandigarh.
The engagement in the DHR project is purely temporary, depending upon the progress the project (until 31st March 2020). Appointment will initially be offered until 31" March 2019 and will be extended later on depending on the performance of the candidate and co-terminus with the project. The appointment can be terminated by either side by giving one month's notice or submission of one month's stipend
Essential Qualification: Masters in Life Sciences; Biotechnology, Microbiology, Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry with at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master's Degree.
Desirable: Research experience in Immunology/Cel! Biology/Molecular biology. Preference would be given to candidates with National Research Fellowship (CS1R-UGC NET/1CMR-JRF/DBT/DST- INSPIRE/GATE etc)
Emoluments per month: Rs 25,000/- (+ 20% HRA)
Upper Age limit: 28 years (relaxable for 5 years in case of SC/ST/OBC/PH/women candidates as per GOl rules) on the date of interview.
