Under the Drug and Cosmetics Act, the regulation of manufacture, sale and distribution of Drugs is primarily the concern of the State authorities while the Central Authorities are responsible for approval of New Drugs, Clinical Trials in the country, laying down the standards for Drugs, control over the quality of imported Drugs, coordination of the activities of State Drug Control Organisations and providing expert advice with a view of bring about the uniformity in the enforcement of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

Classification : General Central Service .Group’C’Non-Gazetted ,Non Ministerial
Pay scale : Pre-revised Pay Band -1 ,Rs,5,200-20,000+Grade Pay Rs.2400 (revised as per 7th CPC Pay matrix Level - 4 with Rs. 25,500/-) plus allowances as per Central Govt. Rules from time to time

Essential Educational qualification: - Graduate in Science with Biology and /or Chemistry (or) Intermediate science with at least 3 years experience of work in a Chemical testing Institution or a Laboratory.

1. Crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the closing date for receipt of applications from Candidates in India and not the closing date prescribed for these in Assam,Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram.
